I second the suggestion for Cetyl-M. You can find it cheapest on Amazon, buy the powder not the tablets unless your dog is really small.
Tried it first on a 26 year old boss mare quarter horse that stopped ruling and herd and showing up first to the feeder. After the loading period she was back to galloping to the food and took back control of her herd. Now 28 years old and still ruling the roost.
Used it on my 10 year old mutt with spinal arthritis and hip dysplasia in one hip (from an accident, not genetic). He was playful and able to jump, run, etc with very little discomfort on it, off of it he was very slow and in obvious discomfort.
My step-dad decided to take it for his bone-on-bone hip after hearing how it worked for my animals. He is an avid golfer and was unable to even putt, was stuck just riding along in the cart.
