Doing business with JILL BURNELL? BEWARE.

I am new here. Someone told me about this thread. You ladies take way to much pleasure in slamming other people. Reminds me of a bunch of cats. You should find a new hobby
Up until the posting of the link that possibly dealt with your ex-wife, the only negativity was directed at Ms. Burrnell and her documented poor business practices. There was some hostility towards her “defenders” (real and altered  ) but other than that this thread has been pretty civil. I’ve been around COTH for many years and seen way worse!

Hmmmm…“slamming other people”…isn’t what men do in football ?
Um yeah, I’m looking in the mirror. My name is Tracy, I own Daventry Equestrian, and I see that I have always paid my vet, always paid my farrier, always paid any trainers who have been involved with our horses or ponies, always paid our shippers and have always paid my stallion dues. I also see in the mirror that any time someone has given me money for stud services, I’ve always provided them with the best semen possible and it was processed in a clean and orderly environment and we have tried to bend over backwards to get every mare pregnant. When I’ve purchased horses, the seller has gotten their money in a timely manner…and when I’ve sold horses, the buyers have actually received their horse. Our horses and ponies are all out in grass pastures and have great weight on them. They have shelters and clean water at all times and are dewormed, vaccinated and trimmed on a regular basis. While my house could use a vaccuum today ;), it is clean and orderly and our yard and acreage is immaculate with no junk lying around anywhere. Oh yeah, I also see that I have no dog poop in the house either! And here’s the kicker; I also see in the mirror that anytime I feel I have done something wrong or someone isn’t 110% happy, I don’t sleep well and do everything in my power to correct the problem or situation and make it 110% right.

Sorry, my mirror isn’t a magic mirror like Jill’s…or yours apparently. Your above statement is what you’re going with? Really? Really! Man, I sure would like some of what you’re smoking!
Excellent post!

When I clicked that I wanted to e-mail you, this is the e-mail you registered with: jwgtraining@msn.com

And when I Googled jwgtraining@msn.com, I came up with this; http://www.chronofhorse.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-365066.html

My goodness, welcome Mr. Groesbeck! How kind of you to register after I posted that [thread about] your (ex?) wife [and the] mare she had leased after she added her two cents regarding JB.
First, this is too awesome for words. God bless the internet.

Second, could someone clarify for me if there is some connection between Ms. Groesbeck and Jill Burnell? Or was this just incidental because she was supporting Jill?

Just curious and trying to keep things straight in my head.

Spectrum, frankly I don’t know if there is a connection between Ms. Groesbeck and JB- that’s not for me to speculate. I’m a nobody in the horse world, don’t breed, and live in Central PA- far away from these nutters.

Ownedbyhim (that is, Ms. Groesbeck and owner of Aberjack) came on here spouting off all kinds of crazy about a few people, including JB. When she identified herself as Aberjack’s owner, I made the connection between herself and the thread I posted. The thread details, with photos, a story which reveals that Ms. Groesback evidently committed to a breeding lease, and the mare was extricated from that situation in very, very poor condition. Since she came here to shake her finger at a few other folks, I thought it was relevant that her own mare keeping be brought to light. It was just sheer coincidence (uh hum) that her (ex?) husband posted shortly after.

Incidental connection. There is no direct connection between Jill and OwnedByHim (AFAIK) other than Jill wanted the Emerald Kitty mare, according to OwnedByHim. Stacey Farnham is a former friend of Jill, and she has been attempting to try to acquire the Emerald Kitty mare since she was given to OwnedByHim. At least that’s what I am gathering here. I’m not afraid to say I DO know Stacey and she has told me that not only has she not seen Jill Burnell in person in two years, but she has not spoken with her in at least six months, when JB was asking SF to lease a horse in her name. The connection between JB and SF isn’t a tight one as it’s being portrayed and honestly it’s irrelevant to this entire Jill Burnell ordeal.

For what it’s worth, that is my mare in the link Well Worn Bridle posted. The first photo in the original post was taken less than a week before she left to be leased. The second photo was taken the morning after she came back. What happened is fact, and is not “internet gossip.” Anyone is welcome to contact my vets to verify everything (including that they 100% believe her condition was caused by simply not feeding her/not feeding her enough) I posted there, just PM me for their contact info and I will happily give it to you. I did not post the name of the lessee in that entire thread, even asked that we keep the thread about the mare, not about the obviously inadequate care she received while leased. Thus, you cannot say I was/am attempting to slander/commit libel/cause drama for the lessee.

I believe that link was posted to warn people to take everything with a grain of salt. People sure aren’t always who they make themselves out to be… which is the moral of this entire thread

I should add my two cents about Jill, because it IS “her” thread after all! I was the one who called her out regarding the “Pop Tart” mare and the OCD surgery on the HGS thread. The little kiddies sure came to defend her, but thankfully she has been “outed” there as well and hopefully that is no more. I did meet Jill Burnell in person once in 2008 or 2009, and visited Federalist and Aloha but did not go to her home. Federalist was then being leased and shown by a junior or amateur. Aloha was in training at a different barn, and I went to see him without JB; she just gave me directions to stop by. She described him as a puppy dog who was most often laying down in his stall lounging. When I actually saw him… he was not a friendly horse. The outside of his stall was chewed pretty badly and it was clear it was his doing. Nothing about him said “puppy dog” at all; in fact he was the exact opposite. That was my first clue that not everything out of JB’s mouth should be believed

Who am I in the grand scheme of things? An absolute nobody, a 25 year old nobody with one mare and too much time to spend reading internet forums. However, it’s the absolute nobodies of the world that are most apt to be screwed over by people like Jill Burnell (and others…), and I’m pleased that this thread is reaching us nobodies.

The above is true, except for the bolded part. OwnedByHim did contact me herself (via Facebook) saying she was ending the lease-- I did not have to “repo” her. However I was unable to acquire information as to why despite asking numerous times. Critical information you would think! It was not until I met her at the drop off location that she told my boyfriend, who is not a horseperson and did not know what to ask, that the mare was refusing to eat anything but the wood in her stall and the bark of the eucalyptus trees in the turnout.

I’m so glad you stopped by and clarified how the mare came to be in your care again. How’s your mare doing now? Still eating only wood?

I posted an update earlier on the HGS thread since I saw it was getting a lot of traffic, but I’ll say that she’s just fine now. Didn’t want to eat hay for a few days but now she’s fat and happy on just an average amount of hay (grass/alfalfa mix) and 1.5 lbs TC Lite with a little rice bran. She’s an easy keeper so I’m really bewildered how she could have lost so much weight.

For those who don’t want to view the HGS thread, here she is a few days before she left last September:

And the day after she came back in early March:

Shannon - she looks amazing!

Shannon, she looks amazing.

Fact:

Several years ago, one former trainer of Gray Fox Farm’s horses was able to get paid for their training services. Trainer refused to release any of the GFF horses in their care until Jill Burnell paid up AND the check cleared. This trainer resorted to putting padlocks on all of the GFF horses stalls. Tough choice on the trainer’s part but they were ultimately paid in FULL. This was prior to John French.

Shannon, in my world there simply is no excuse for a horse to be in that heinous condition. It is nice to see her looking so well, and knowing that she is cared for properly.

If any animal under my care, were to fall into such poor condition, I would not be wagging my finger at anyone else, on the net or other wise.

Shame on you  !

Pictures are worth a thousand words, eh? Glad you got her back.

I concur with Ware Whip… As a professional, I cannot fathom [edit] sending one off my farm in that condition for others to see. Unless of course it was going to a clinic (and to get to that point I still dropped the ball).

Glad your mare is now doing well!

The practices of some who call themselves professionals astounds me, I’m appalled at what I’ve read about JB, and so glad I decided not to breed a mare of mine to amy of her stallions. People really need to learn how to conduct their business!

Sorry, I got lost. Did Shannons mare come back from GFF in that condition?
The mods asked for the information I found. I am not going to answer any pms on the subject until they tell me how to proceed.
I obviously missed something … so please keep us posted when you can.

Thanks!

Thanks for your comments. She’s also just over 3 months in foal (not to Aberjack-- I bred her 3 months after I got her back to a Spy Coast stallion) and being worked 3-4 times a week and just starting over fences again. I didn’t do anything other than feed her like an average horse should be fed, and she just bloomed back out to her normal self.

However, even if there truly was something wrong with her, a vet was never called nor consulted about it, and that was fully the responsibility of the lessee. Our contract stated that she was to be maintained in the same condition in which she arrived. We can all agree that that was not adhered to.

No no, thank goodness. She came back from being leased by OwnedByHim in that condition.

Well she looks lovely. Funny how something so simple as food can do that!

We’ve removed/edited a few posts making definitive statements re: the cause of the mare’s condition in recent posts, to comply with our posting policies.

Please avoid confusing this already convoluted situation by introducing unrelated issues and unsubstantiated accusations of abuse or neglect.
