Donnerhall Bloodline

Donnerhall and sons are known for adding rideability and good minds. Hind leg can be a bit straight and D does not add fast hind leg. But MANY , MANY Donnerhall sons are sucessful internationally in dressage. For breeders, semen quality on many Donnerhall sons and grandsons is also good. I love my Deniro son- best mind ever in a young stallion so we will not geld him. Planning on breeding to Danone, Dancier or Danciano and Delatio. Will rebreed via frozen to Deniro. Are they amateur friendly? Need to consider damline also, but generally I think the D line horses are rideable across a variety of rider skills, which is why so many dressage horses have Donnerhall in their background.

I have a delaurentis (Deniro son) gelding, super, super sweet, phlegmatic, nice suspension but not a fast hind leg. Smart, brave, maybe a tad stubborn but in small ways only. He’s out of a rubenstein mare, another stallion known for temperament. Don Principe strikes me as a good example of the strengths of donnerhall, rideability, ability to sit, noble head rather than dishy or delicate.

THIS. Lol!

Even my friend’s half Lusitano is by Donnerhall on the other side.

I’ve seen ammy friendly ones and ones not so much. But I think they have one thing in common with the jumping D lines (of which I own one)…they tend to be on the smarter side, for the good and the bad that can come with that depending on the other ingredients.
