Dover return policy - who has really used it?

[QUOTE=Xctrygirl;8359527]
Well you must have missed my second post. Ariat instructed me to return them at Dover because they believe that their paddock boots will last 2 years.

And I’m sorry but gloves should not come unstitched down to the palm when worn maybe 2 days a week out hunting. So they were replaced.

Nope. I did not miss your second post. I think Ariat is over stating the longevity of their product. Heck, my trainer goes through paddock boots in 6 months. I usually get close to two years, but if I didn’t make it to 24 months, I wouldn’t be thinking the product was defective and asking for a brand new pair. That’s quite a racket, you would never have to pay for new boots again.

As for the gloves, I still think that’s a bit abusive. Falling apart in a month or so, sure…get them replaced. Heck, I had a pair of SSG All Weathers come unstitched at 3 weeks. But if you are hunting 4-8 hours a week for a year (2 times a week at 2 to 4 hours)? That’s a pretty long time. My riding gloves are worn about 5 days a week, so about 5 hours/per week and I wouldn’t think they were defective if they fell apart in a year.

I don’t shop at Dover much, but I did have a pair of Ariat boots fall apart within 6 months of buying them (the $190 pair) and I took them back to the tack store where I bought them and the same thing happened again. So I just don’t buy Ariat paddock boots anymore. I had a pair of gloves that the finger ripped out after not very much time, but I worked in them several days a week. Not a manufacturer defect.

As for zippers, Ariat zipper suck and always have. I just replace the zippers, I’ve never asked for a refund or anything.

Having something for nearly two years and returning it seems like abusing the policy to me as well. That’s called wear and tear, not a manufacturer defect.

I know an “insider” in the returns department :wink: you would NOT believe the things people return! like YEARS later where the product just clearly had run its course and they didnt want to pay for a new one. moral of the story, don’t feel bad if its legitimate!
