Draft hooves..I have questions

At her age I would wonder if she is metabolic and it is adding to whatever else is going on with the feet. Maybe some chronic laminitis going on?

I tend to agree with an unthread poster.
The shape of the sole looks ok IMHO.
Assume it’s an illusion the walls look caved in?

These look like (trying to be) self trimming hooves.
Better said - were not trimmed and doing it on their own.
Maybe have a look-see at Rockley Farms site and look at pics of hooves in the process of self trimming.
Also there’s a FB group Self Trimming Horses.

Hooves can look wonky until they sort themselves out.
Horses have come sound by growing hooves they need.
Walking on tracks to self trim.
Looking at this lovely mare’s hooves reminded me of hooves I’ve been studying on the above mentioned sites. Ugly then beautiful and functioning.

I wonder if there is a past history of laminitis/founder with a dropped sole. The mare needs x rays and an exam by a good lameness vet. She then needs to be seen by a good farrier with experience in special shoeing and lameness. Is there a vet school with a farrier shop near you? Sometimes it is easiest to just go to a vet school and get everything checked and fixed at once.

What a LOVE! Sweet nugget percheron mares always have my heart.

My now 24 year old percheron cross had hind feet that looked like this when I got her as a coming 2 year old. She was pretty much born feral and untouched until I got her in the midwest so he field was muddy spring, fall and winters. Proper trimming and regular hoof care ( ie picking hoofs) corrected the flaring.

I would recommend making an appointment with a podiatrist, not just a vet. Her feet should be xrayed. I am concerned with her internal hoof structure. Her hoof wall integrity is compromised.

Maybe consider another farrier if they think this is an OK normal hoof. Or maybe this farrier would be willing to work with the podiatrist?

I would definitely not be riding her as she is off.

It sounds like she has a wonderful new home with you and her new owner that are working hard to get her the best care possible!
