It looks like that thing just follows? It’s not mounted on the side.
A sickle bar won’t drop into the ditch, I don’t think. It’ll mow on the same plane as the tractor.
What you really want is one of those boom mowers, I think.

Propane torch??
Is the area close enough where you can water it well prior to using the torch?
Oh, there we go. There’s a whole class of implement called “ditch bank mowers”. Here’s one link, bunches more on Google.

Yes, it is! I’ve seen people burn fence lines before. I never thought of that. Thx!
Simkie, thank you! I’ll go look at those. All of this started because the county redid the road and dumped a bunch of water onto my farm that had never been a problem before. I was able to mow my much smaller ditch and road frontage ditch easily but now- not so much. Thank you again.
If you decide to set it aflame, please be mindful of the season – spring/early summer is prime time for ground-nesting birds as well as amphibians (frogs, salamanders, etc), so please avoid burning up the bebehs.
. Thank you- that would not be my preference at all, but I do appreciate everyone’s ideas. I’m afraid of fire, really.
I’d love to do a rain garden and actually sort of started that without realizing it. I planted some day Lilly’s that grow around the farm. The ditch is over 1000 feet long and the Lilly’s are just not spreading fast enough.
