Actually this does exist in Scottsdale. All of it at the same barn.
Agree, I have a friend who got horse property and now does not have time to ride!
I have had as many as three horses at home, work full time plus some and ride all the time. Itās all about what you are willing to do.
Hence the YMMV.
I left that facility for numerous reasons. OP feel free to PM me regarding the issues. Regarding the trainer, also feel free to PM.
JLR - Iām not trying to advertise the facility for boarding. I have no dog in this race. Iām actually supporting redsoxlvrās point that some of us find the only answer to be owning our own property and taking care of horses. As for the comment of having no time to ride if you follow such a route, well, I guess itās an individual thing because as long as I have a lighted arena most of yāall in the area know Iāve been able to keep at least if not more than 4 horses physically fit to show and thatās with a demanding full-time job. Iām one who has to keep busy so having the demands at home as well as at my job just keeps me out of trouble. I would NEVER go back to boarding no matter who owns the facility. I also am not advocating one trainer over another in this area. I think more to the point is that there are several in this area within a stoneās throw of individual horse properties with easy access by trailer. Letās also be clear that youāre probably one of the best people to PM on the area because youāve boarded at more than just a couple over the years - not a good or bad thing but you have a lot of info in your back pocket.
I can not imagine having horses at my place. Or to say better I can imagine it only if I win lotto. I mean I am at work from 8 to 5, some days till 7, so for horses to have even 3 feeds a day, forget about 4, I have to hire somebody. I actually have to hire somebody full day anyway as I hate horses to be completely unsupervised. And then I have to build and maintain riding area and paddocks and take care of hay and shavings delivery and make sure that trainer is willing to travel (I donāt know about Arizona, but ours trainers with name are not willing to travel for a lesson, only for a clinic). That is one very expensive project :).
As I said itās (keeping horses at home) not for everyone but it was the only way I could insure that my horses received the management and care I require. Iām considered upper middle class with my income and was able to afford it and still am. Many of us haul our horses to our lessons/instructors, though for many years I was lucky enough to have someone come to me.
Agree, donāt think you would be able to find a good trainer to come to your place 5x/week for training. The expense to keep an arena watered and dragged daily, horses fed 3-4 times daily, stalls cleaned 2x/day would require staff if you had a full time job, plus commute. Hope you can find something suitable!
