Dressage Freestyle - Updates

Patrick Kittel had music I really liked. Generally a really nice test, but really weak in piaffe every time, and made a clear mistake in the one’s, though he had two lines. I find his leaning his body side to side in the changes very distracting.

Hahaha I call that the Kittel Hula

Kudos to all of these horses and riders who are putting a big smile on my face this morning at work  Wonderful performances, I wish I could give them all a medal :frowning:

Just have to say it - surely they could have found a better pic for Diederik for the FEI website?!

Someone posted this earlier and just want to say it again…the riding is much different than in years past…lighter, more sympathetic.

And the quality of the horses - their athleticism and talent - just keeps getting better and better. Considering this group of horses was born 10+ years ago, the breeding decisions really hit the mark.

OMG “GOOD VIBRATIONS”!! Amazing.

showy front end, rear end trailing behind. Moves with the music

I thought he looked like a felon!

Silfven so far my favorite

Back two rides – I think Delgado is my dressage horse crush!

Strongly agree that dressage seems to have changed – like Mardi said, the riding seems lighter, or the horses seem more naturally through or something. Doesn’t seem as forced or stressful ??? Just some amateur observations.

Perfect choice, LOVED their ride!

I don’t know my ass from my elbow in dressage, but the single-handed canter pirouettes - is that like a fancy move or get you extra style points or something?

I thought it was hella impressive (from a plebe).

Break until 12:30 Rio time

The artistic marks really helped her.
Toes dragging even in the half passes (esp left).

There is room at the top still.

I would give this rider high marks for artistic-oh I see they did! The music was so much lighter! sure it was the Beach Boys, but the foot falls were letter perfect. Execution, not so much, but a good ride overall.
Most of the music is so heavy and ponderous.
I am breathless to see the last bunch!!

I wanted to add, despite the disappointment in seeing so many empty seats in the stands, this arena seems to be by far the most horse-friendly than a few Olympics past. Just the one Pokemon

Loving this energy from the crowd in Rio during the break, who knew dressage goers were wild and crazy folk LMAO!

You need to attend Aachen. I’m not kidding…I was at last year’s European Championships and that crowd was AMAZING. Those people know dressage just as well as (if not better than) many of us do and there were some very electric moments!

No go. CBC tells me they are having technical difficulties. NBC tells me video isn’t available due to location restrictions or authorization failures. Yet I was able to watch most of the first group on NBC, and can see livestream for a multitude of other sports. Someone pulled a plug somewhere between the Rio equestrian complex and me.[/QUOTE]

Sorry- I am watching it on CBC stream - no problems so far

Does Desparados look a little wonky behind to anyone else? Maybe it’s just me? He wasn’t really crossing over in the half passes either . . .
