Dressage - Grand Prix Special

I have to say - wow Denmark - really impressive riding at this Olympics.

I think Americans have a lot of hard work ahead of us in all of our equestrian endeavors. Not sure what the answer is, but a lot of countries are putting together some great teams (in general). We have very good riders, don’t get me wrong, but it seems as though the bar has been raised.

Ahhh, the NBCS is not quite live now.[/QUOTE]

Yes but I have to admit, Valegro in high def on a big screen is awesome.

Well done Britain!!! :D:D:D:D:D
Couldn’t have happened to a better group of people. Lovely sympathetic riding…

See? It can be done!

Here goes Adelinde !

Carl’s ride should’ve scored higher than Adelinde’s water-skiing trip around the arena…

But, I’m very happy for the Brits and their gold! A lovely group of riders!

How wonderful for Great Britain! Winning at home, and with such wonderful rides!

Hip hip hooray !

Yes, it CAN be done. Thanks to the judges !

Ya think there’ll be a wee bit of partying tonight ?

Congratulations to Great Britian!

They didn’t even show Edwards ride on NBCSN for me! I cannot believe it. One of the most popular riders and they don’t show it.

Didn’t see Anky either. NBC always fails when covering any equestrian event. God forbid you miss any gymnastics or track! That junk is on all the dang time!

I’m going to have to watch the replays later (either TV or online). I just couldn’t get the video to stay. Went to black half way through Adelinde’s ride.

Congrats to the Brits! What a great performance by all 3 of their riders!

Just tuning in. OMG! Has the world stopped spinning? Is the day of atonement near?

GB Gold? 3 out of 4 riders in the top spots?
Anky not even in the top 10?

Perhaps this is not PC, but I have to ask — are people thinking the judging was biased, or did GB really outperform the rest of the world to that extent?

I am THRILLED for the Brits, but 3 out of the top 4? I am going back to Live and watching and cheering the Brits as they get their medals. But, dressage just does not change this radically usually. Or does it?

Good for Stephen in 6th place.

The Brits silver in Eventing, gold in SJ and gold in Dressage! Go England!!!

Agreed. The judges clearly weren’t watching the same test I was.

I always feel a bit ill watching Parzival, personally don’t agree with that score at all.
But well done to Carl, Charlotte and Laura with the ever-wonderful Uti, Blueberry and Alf

The Brits put in some absolutely STUNNING rides and were rewarded for it. In my opinion they were really just a class ahead. There were some gorgeous German tests too. The Dutch have very athletic, strong horses but I don’t think they were able to demonstrate the same correctness that the Brits and Germans were. The tide is turning on the more aggressive rides.

They were amazing rides. And, look at the British showjumpers…they caused an upset yesterday as well with a non-subjective scoring sport. And the Eventers in Silver, 2 points from Gold as well…It seems like a perfect storm of GB equestrian sports coming together this year with a lot of hard work and good horsemanship paying off. The dressage partnerships, like the other two sports, all looked to be very classy, consistent, and positive!

This is a victory for soft correct riding. Thank goodness for faces slightly in front of vertical and quiet tails. Hopefully this will soon become the norm! Congradulations tO GB. What a wonderful Olympics… You so deserve it!

I am thrilled for the Brits, I didn’t get to watch but I was pulling for them. And I don’t think it was at all unexpected or the result of biased judging as someone mentioned. From what I have been reading, it sounds as though the Brits were considered a leading contender all along and were expected to battle for the gold. I hope they do just as well in the individual results too. Very happy for them.

Dear NBC: Much as I appreciate the streaming coverage, please note that the bell does not signal “insert commercial here”. Missed the beginning of all the recent tests! And saw the same commercial many times - deosnt do much for the sponsor when the commercial is repetitive and poorly placed.

So happy for GB and sympathetic riding! Uthopia is my favorite.
Many more nice rides this Olympics for this semi-educated viewer. Last one was discouraging for the state of dressage and this once had many rides to aspire towards.
Thought I saw more modest sized horses too…

I don’t get Parzival. Hard to tell too much with a jerky, freezing feed, but I dont see why he gets the high scores. Looks against the hand and held tightly the whole way. And his piaffe didnt appear to sit.

Still some wonderful horses to root for in the Freestyle!

I’m interested to see who survives the victory gallop. Those horses were AMPED coming in the arena for the medal ceremony!

Congrats to the Brits - well deserved!!
