Dressage Letters In Arena

Unfortunately if they are outside the ring, they will line up directly with the posts and be pretty much invisible (unless they are 4 ft tall or so, which I guess is a possibility.)

We will primarily have Into through Training Level rides. That being said, I still would like to do it the correct way. There has got to be an option. We can’t possibly be the only facility that has a ring that is the actual specs for the Dressage Court?

Why can’t you get letters and attach them so they are visible above the posts?

To me, it shouldn’t be that big of a problem. I, and most riders I know, tend to memorize the patterns and the letters mostly serve to help the accuracy and geometry. Not being able to see them well when on that side is not an issue if you know you “circle 20m halfway down”.

Most riders should have a good idea where the letter is by the flow of the test. Many have spent time in an indoor in which the letters are on the wall!

Personally I would make sure the letters in a large and broad font. A black letter on a white background should be visible. Is it possible to put smaller letters on the sides of the fence post?

The biggest issue I have found with novice dressage riders is riding for the first time on a large court after practicing on the small. I might want to paint a horizontal stripe on the fence posts with letters, using one color for the main letters and a different color for the in-between letters. Only problem there is that it would be off if you use the smaller dimensions. If you think you might, (and intro tests can take an eternity in the large court!) you could do something similar with tape or ribbon.
