I had the same reaction some years ago, when all I got was the certificate. I was quite upset, and had to call and ask. It would be a lot more member-friendly (and probably save themselves a number of phone calls) if they just stated in the note that medals would be mailed after banquet.

Thanks for this thread! And big congrats on your medal! I also earned my bronze this summer and received my certificate in the mail. I didn’t realize that my medal would not arrive until after the awards banquet. Good to know!
Little brag—I earned my scores on a horse that I have shown myself (from age 3) in eventing. My horse was in her teens and I happened upon a great dressage trainer. It took some work and time, but we are now moving through the levels in dressage. It has been a fun and rewarding journey.
I spent the $25 on the lapel pin because I thought that was the only medal I was going to get. It was only later I read that the medal would come after annual awards. I do wish they’d been more clear about that.
