Dressage saddles

I love my trainer’s Voltaire. I think it is the Adelaide. Everyone that rides in it loves it. Regretfully even a used one was not in my budget.
Funny thing is I am 5’3" with short legs and the blocks don’t interfere. My trainer is long legged and probably 5’10" and it works for her. I actually have to wrap her stirrup leathers there is such a difference in height.

I tried 4 different saddles when I went to buy one and 3 of the 4 I tried the thigh block interfered with my leg position. My Passier is fine but not the Voltaire.

Schleese Heike Kemmer - with a small block. With a large block installed it feels like I am in Alcatraz, but with the small one velcroed exactly how I like it, it’s a dream.

Have gone through a Moffett Vogue, Schleese HK semi custom, Stubben, Albion, and a Custom Coronado, so far the winner is a Dresch Legolas. He finally came through nicely and evenly in both reins in the Dresch and no threatening to rear (he is a head throwing maniac when he doesn’t like something). The Dresch feels very stable and seats me “in” his back as well.

Frank Baines Pirouette. It is the saddle that just disappears when I sit in it, as if it is just me and the horse. I never feel it is in my way, just super comfy. The monoflap design contributes heavily to that, but mostly I think it is the seat shape and balance that just suit me so well.

Schleese HK. My horses love the HK, I love the HK. It’s the first saddle I’ve ever truly forgotten about while I ride.
I have 2 of them and I would like Santa to put a third one with extra short panels under the Christmas tree this year

Devoucoux Makila fits all my horses and I feel comfortable in it.

It was a really old, flat County. I tend to like plain flaps and flat seats but I went through quite a lot finding something that my horse really approved of so I’m in an Amerigo close contact dressage now. I still feel like the block isn’t in the right place but it was so exhausting finding something for my horse so I’ve settled for now. I think I must have different proportions to most people because I’ve never quite found a dressage saddle that I felt at home in.
