I just watched the video. Horse looked less than pleased with the ministrations of the maestro. Can someone explain just what he was doing with his right hand when going through the corner going right? I have never seen such a fancy rein aid before.

Great Job! you scared the OP away… And by the way I watch free online videos all the time. I think they are extremely helpful. I have some favorite clinicians or riders which I love to watch!! And I think it helps me.
The part where it looks like he’s scratching his belly with his right hand? To someone uneducated in this masterful system of training it looks like a rider who doesn’t know how to use a whip, and moves his his hand a mile to tap the horse on the hindquarters instead of using a subtle wrist action to tap just behind the leg.
But I’m sure there’s something much fancier going on that. This is, after all, a Grand Prix rider with a special talent for communicating with non-warmbloods.

A whip aid! For a minute there I thought he was turning the horse to the inside with that looong rein to make the bend and was scrambling to make contact. I am also impressed with his example and execution of going forward per his other video.

Yes, but I assume you watch these videos to augment the instruction you receive from trainers and clinicians, correct? They aren’t your only source of training information.
Many people benefit from watching free online tutorials. But go back and reread the first post. OP wants nothing to do with lessons from actual live instructors. His excuse is that lessons are too expensive and that the working student thing is a scam. His plan is to advance up the levels through instruction obtained strictly through video. And when told, kindly at first, that such a scheme is unrealistic, he copped an attitude.

Ugh. It’s like those people who take on horses with a nasty and aggressive attitude thinking if they can turn it around and make them all lovable and cuddly they’ll be the next Monty Roberts. Ummm no, you’re just 10x more likely to get yourself kicked in the head, leave it to someone who knows what they’re doing. People always have to try and be “special” ffs
