Incredible race for Arrogate! What a beast. After that break to come back like that… Mike Smith rode very well.
“I’m going to ride him just like I did Zenyatta…” - Mike Smith (edited to add) after the bad break and he was dead last.
And that he did. What a amazing horse Arrogate is and what an amazing ride from Mike.
Wow. He had all the racing luck against him there.
Any I missing a video of that race?
Thank you so much dressagetraks!!!
He looked just like a grey Zenyatta. Mike must be having deja vu, all over again!
JUST…WOW!!!
Sorry to pee on some peoples’ parade; but imo, Spectacular Bid, was not that ‘spectacular.’ Affirmed creamed him.
That walkover? Bud Delp (and the owners) was a class#1 A-hole loudmouth and I think the other trainers/owners were ‘snubbing’ him.

“second coming of Spectacular Bid” SERIOUSLY??
S Bid was NO where close to Secretariat, Citation, or Man O’ War.
I stand very much corrected with Arrogate’s sweeping and commanding win. Impressive for a host of reasons.
I think people compare Arrogate to Spectacular Bid because of the similar running style. Heads low and what I call a “grinder” type of movement- not really a nice mover- long strides because of his size. Compare to AP who ran with his head up and was really a lovely mover and floated over the ground effortlessly. That being said- Arrogate is a beast and IMO there really isn’t any horse currently running that looks to be able to beat this guy. Do I think he is the “second coming”- I think he is very good and I see him finishing his career with wins in the PC and the BCC unless something (God forbid) happens. That being said and just throwing this out there- this was not a particular fast race- fractions were such that he was able to overcome the disastrous start and got rolling to come home in good times but not great.
All I am saying ‘the bid’ raced against nothing. 3 - 4 other horses?
Affirmed whupped his hiney. easily. He never raced against any other horses of note.
His record speaks for itself.
He raced against no horse of importance. NEVER raced in a HUGE field.
Steroids back then? YES. That whole “he stepped in a pin in a haystack BS!”
Again: only *my opinion.
*(MANY others opinions.)
Affirmed vs “the bid!”

On the fence before, now a believer. that was one impressive win. I do have to wonder how much more we will see of him, though. The risks vs. breeding value, hmmmm
We get it!! You don’t care much for The Bid. That’s fine & each to their own, but stating your opinion post after post is a bit much
Arrogate may be the second coming of Secretariat.
As to the time, remember that the track was rated “muddy”; that’s got to affect times.
omg, my great aunt took over im so sorry! she teaching me about racing!
I very sorry an lock this pc up!
What?
I’m not ready to crown him Secretariat or anything (for starters he’d need to try grass, too) and I don’t really find him electrifying to watch. What I’m impressed with is there are plenty of horses who can win coming from behind, even WAY back, but not many who’d do it from way back, being pinched, blocked, spinning their wheels on the footing, boxed in, and carried way out, and done it running as if they didn’t notice anything. He’s not pretty to watch run or anything, but it’s like NOTHING bothers him. He got a bad-luck trip and would have had excuses if he’d lost, but ran like he had it all his own way from the start. That’s a mental thing you just don’t see often,
