Dubarry or Dublin

I have the Dubarrys and can’t wear them for a day without my feet hurting. I treated myself to a pair after coveting them on other people. They just hurt my feet even with insoles.

Without having a pair you can’t say that 100%. I have a pair that I have had for 6 yrs.for the first 4 yrs I lived in them from fall to spring. Cleaned stalls every day, rode 2 horses a day in them and would wear them to town for running around. I lived on Vancouver Island and it rain every day for 6 months so they where in the pee and poo in the barn yard every day. I even tossed my rubber boots as my Dubarry’s fit better and I was never foot sore after where them for the day.

I have heard more people say that the Dublins don’t last passed 2 yrs where I have only heard a few people say there Dubarry’s haven’t lasted.

Dublins are $300 a pair if you have had to buy 3 pairs for the last 6 yrs you have paid $900. and still need to buy another pair.

I paid $550 for my Dubarrys and have had them for 6 yrs and they are still going strong.

With that info I can tell you which ones I would buy.[/QUOTE]
I worked in retail, didn’t need to spend $600 to find out for myself how long Dubarrys typically last. We would have customers try to return them after the first year.

For the price, it does not make sense to wear $600 boots to do chores.

Dublins are $175-200 depending on where you buy them. If you wait for Dover’s Christmas sale they go for as low as $99.

I LOVE my Dublins, but with that being said, I wouldn’t rely on them for every day barn work. They lost their waterproof-ness very quickly. I have a cheap pair of walmart rubber boots, and they still won’t die after 4 years of use. I wear them daily, and they won’t die lol. I’ve bought many other rubber boots and those things die within a month or two. Now rubber boots aren’t as warm, but you can definitely get some good woolly socks.

I wouldn’t spend $300+ on a pair of boots like that for every day use, as I don’t find them reliable. I’ve heard good reviews about Dubarry, but only reviews no personal experience.

I’ve even re-waterpoofed my dublins with no success.

I just ordered a pair of Dublins during the sale above ^, but also don’t discount the Ovation brand boots either. I have a pair that I have had for 3 years and they are still going strong and are still waterproof.

I have these:

Hahaha your request was worth the try!

I’ve got a pair of Dublins that are 3 1/2 years old now. I wear them around the paddock all the time, particularly in winter. Great to ride in as well, and just generally super comfy (I have done the odd 10km hike in them as well). They are still waterproof, I can go through water that is a foot deep and my feet stay dry. The lining on the inside around the heel is starting to go…might try and get it repaired, otherwise I will happily pay $300 for another pair.

These are the ones I have: http://www.doversaddlery.com/dublin-harrowed-boots/p/X1-380284/

I get about 10 months out of Dubarry’s. Thankfully my boss likes to buy me a pair every year for my birthday so they make it about long enough. I love them while they’re good.

On the other hand, I tried Dublin’s, made it about 3-4 months. Muck Boot Co/Bogs, maybe a month. True Hunter Wellingtons, about 3 months, if that. The only thing I’ve had truly hold up are these stupid Walmart Dairy Boots. I’ve literally had them for years and they’re still intact. BUT the leg opening is a little too wide and I somehow always end up with hay/shavings/cat food/pellets down in them, so I don’t really use them anymore.

For some reason, I am stupidly hard on shoes. I walk through insoles in months, and always have. I never expect anything to last too long for me, so the nearly a year I get out of the Dubarry’s is outstanding, and probably means they would last significantly longer for the average Joe.

I’ve have two pair of Dublin now and both have stood up really well to the abuse I put them through. Barn work, yard work, building an arena, walking dogs, rode in them frequently. First pair lasted 3 years and honestly they could have gone a lot longer I just wanted new one and saw then on sale on Stateline (I think) about this time last year.
