Dumped Dog Please Reassure Me We Are Doing The Right Thing. EMBARK RESULTS ARE BACK!

Thank you @OnAMission and @Bearx2. You are both very wise. Tiger continues to improve everyday. His next vaccine appt is Tuesday and his neuter is the following Wednesday.
He is learning so much. From other dog osmosis and also from just praise. He was so unruly when excited. He has learned sit and down and stay. At first with a bit of a treat and now just with a rubbing of his Googly spot (on his chest between his front legs). He loves to be told he is a very good boy. That’s become his reward. he is extremely good around the horses loose… Even the horse that does not like dogs very much…

My old dog (Oliver) tolerates him and at times will lay beside him. But when Tiger comes very close to me. Old dog wants to insert himself like the Secret Service intervening with the president. So I have to be vigilant. Oliver can swoop in like an eagle if he thinks somehow, I am in danger. Tigers backs off for now I just don’t want there to come a day when he does not. I think removing the testicles will help. And teaching better manners. Every day is better.

I am right behind you with Lilly’s test. We should get them within days of each other.

I hate the waiting part.

I think I am 3-5 business days behind you. My kit is activated, but it has not arrived yet.

I.

HATE.

WAITING.

LOL

I was the same way when I did 23 + Me

It’s a lot of fun to wait. In the meantime, does anyone want to play “what is this dog” with one that I HAVE done the testing on?

ACD/Aussie mix?

We had a dog that looked just like that a neighbor raise from that cross, other than ours had a bit more square head of the Aussie, wonderful dog.

That’s a tough one.

Very close (2/3). She’s an awesome dog. I was surprised by the results, but not all of them. The NUMBER of results really surprised me (there are about 5 “main breeds” in her)

Profile looks very collie-esque to me!

Black and Tan Jack Russel Terror
Aussie Cattle dog
with a splash of Catahoula Leopard Dog and Border Collie

and since you said there are 5 main breeds, … some sort of bully for good measure.

I could throw in Kelpie as well.

I thought Kelpie too and deleted it. … they are so rare in the US. but you never know. I do know the OP is in Central Fl so I tried to zone in on that region as I had lived not far and used to scour the humane society and SPCA websites for dogs all the time.

That was my first thought, smooth collie look to him, but wrong proportions for that, especially head not a long wedge nosed one.
I think most of us would take that dog home, “look Mom, dog followed me.”

I’ll put you out of your misery. Dog came from Kentucky and the combo (embark) was:

  1. Mountain cur
  2. Border collie
  3. Doberman
  4. ACD
  5. Husky (very low percentage)

Apparently when you combine those breeds you get something much like a kelpie.

This was fun! I got 2 out of 5. I would never have guessed Husky or Dobbie. The Mountain Cur, I can understand because I through Catahoula (hound) thinking you got him in FL. So 3 out of 5 is not too bad! LOL

I can’t wait until Silly Lilly’s and Tiger’s tests come back.

I think they should make a reality game show with dog DNA tests.
I can just hear the audience now chanting in unison… NAME THAT BREED!

Just. go on FB and search Embark- there’s new dogs to guess everyday. It’s really fun!
Some mixes are 5,6,7 different
breeds and don’t always look like you’d think.

Sweet! I will. My two other dogs I had “embarked”. We’re 5 and 7 breeds.

I had guessed some dobie by the sitting at attention.
We use to have dobies for obedience and they sat like that.
I would not have thought husky at all, that is surprising.

If people want another one to guess while we are waiting for Tiger’s results… what do you think Mia was? She was about 40 lb. I live in PA and her pregnant mom was found as a stray. She came back as 5 breeds:
