Dumped Dog Please Reassure Me We Are Doing The Right Thing. EMBARK RESULTS ARE BACK!

yea, she was asking for $100.00 for the 4 silver pups. The three solid black ones (which were also female) were offered free to a good home when no one expressed interest. I grabbed Lilly the next day.

How big is your lab? Lilly is only 23 inches at the wither, and a whooping 50lbs at 6 months. She will get spayed once she reaches maturity, but dang this girl is thincc. Her front legs are like baseball bats and she has a booty on her. When I brought her home, she was very petite and figured sheā€™d weight around 30-35lbs. I started feeding her a freeze dried raw diet on day one and sheā€™s just blossomed in to a hunka hunka.

And what is up with wanting to high five my face LOL! This girl throws paws like she is Mike Tyson!

I love her to bits and she makes me laugh.

Tiger is now 2 weeks post neuter. Healed lovely.

Iā€™m not sure what happened to him in his first 10 months of life but it likely was not good or kind.
It amazes me his temperament is so lovely. Every once in a while he will freeze and steel himself for a beating. Usually if reach towards him or over his back. He has never bitten me (broken skin) but he has put his entire mouth on my armā€¦ looked me in the eyes and waited and held.

Either he was hit by a car or beaten. Either way he had no vet care. His left front elbow is basically fused. He gets around like a little firecracker though. :woman_shrugging:.

He ADORES his crate. In the evening he prefers to sleep inside there with the door open. I got him ā€œbumpersā€ for the sides.
Heā€™s a work in progress.
I donā€™t regret stopping the truck for him but boy howdy do I wish people would stop freaking abusing and dumping their pets.

Sweet baby!

Our Clyde has been with us for almost six years now and he still flinches every.single.time anyone reaches to pet his head. Loud noises make him run away in fear or drop to the ground. He wants to feel safe with people- he LOVES people- but it takes him a bit to adjust to strangers. He is the loveliest soul and a big mush and I hate knowing the first six years of his life were hellish. But, both he and Tiger got out and now they just get to be loved, so that is a nice bit of good in the world.

I am so glad to hear that Tiger is healing well.

I love the bumpers in the crate, I may steal that idea.

Tiger is so lucky to have been found by you. If another, less patient person had found him, or surrendered him to the pound I donā€™t think he would be as fortunate. Same with @foursocks, dogs with a past need their trust rebuilt, and both of you are doing a stellar job at it.

One day at a time.

Thank you both! I do think itā€™s poetic that the thing I so worried aboutā€¦ the impetus for this thread (his crate)ā€¦has become his Happy place.
One day at a time indeed.

My Border Collie loved her puppy crate, both of them, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. She kept on stuffing herself into both of them until she didnā€™t fit anymore. Unfortunately my house is too small for a bigger crate, so she tucks herself into a corner behind an end table and the sofa when she feels the need if the room she can find on the sofa with DH or the bed with me doesnā€™t quite do.

Mine likes his crate too. I took the door off it because we never close him up in it anymore. He likes it in the evenings and I think when heā€™s home alone.

Tiger looks very cozy in there :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Thanks so much for asking! Heā€™s doing good! His coin purse is finally an after thought lol. He is still QUITE the puppy. Sooooo much energy for a dog with a fused front elbow. But ā€¦He can jump from a standstill onto hay bales stacked 4-5 high. Heā€™s still A LOT for my old man dog so I monitor closely. He sincerely wants to be a very good boy.

He makes mistakes sometimes. But itā€™s not his fault. He was really let down in the first 9 months of his life. In a likely rough way. And that crops up occasionally. Mostly if you raise an object in front of him up high like a stick or a pitchfork. Or back him into a corner and suddenly reach for him. Itā€™s all been a learning process. He is such a good farm dog. He licks my horses nose gently when Happy(my horse) drops his feed and they both nom nom it through the fence. Heā€™s good with the barn cats. Heā€™s an avid rat hunter.

I still canā€™t believe heā€™s 100% pit bull. You should hear him talk and how he can howl. And he still has his skinny waist and his barrel chest despite eating 2X as much as my other dogs.

Iā€™m really happy heā€™s a part of my life.

Well Tiger thinks this is how he should pose for photos lol

He is such a keen helper. To plant flowers. He will help dig. To water them. He thinks the greatest fun is mouthing the hose water.

Well we would like to welcome him as an honorary English Shepherd, since he seems to embrace the patented English Shepherd pose!
