Curious, what signs indicate that doodle market has burst?

Sending healing vibes for Tiger this morning for his ā€˜brain surgeryā€™.

Feed store owner got a Doodle
puppy a couple years back.
Cutest fuzzy puppy.
Fast foward, untrained, wild and
crazy and BIG.
Now other dogs (like mine) are
no longer allowed to come into
the store because doodle is too
aggressive with other dogs.
Turned into a loud barky obnoxious. specimen.

Well, maybe I should have said it seems like it has started to burst? So many shelters and rescues are seeing doodles turned in they have almost displaced pitbulls for that dubious honor. A friend of mine has a client who breeds the ones with Poodle, Labs, and Cockers and she ended up getting out of it because sales went way down. She did really well, apparently, for years and then it started to dry up.

But Iā€™m probably just prey to wishful thinking- I was correlating increased doodle surrender with the end of the excessive stupidity. That and the craze for French Bulldogs and other breeds that end up not being able to breathe are sickening trends.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. I do see a trend where shelters are calling doodles, poodle mixes instead of insertdoodle here ā€œbreedā€.

I do agree with you, the trend is wearing off and I feel that doodle owners are finally coming clean about the true personalities, demands, (grooming and from the dog) that doodles really are. (and by demanding, I mean you have to train them they do not just magically know how to be a good dog)

There are a number of tiktoker groomers that discuss the horrors of grooming a doodle that has not been cared for correctly.

I hope your hunch is right and we see less and less doodle breeders out there.

OP sorry for the side tracked convo.

Okay ! We are home. Tiger :tiger2: UPDATE
Todayā€™s appointment was not for neutering It was just the initial visit. No vet around save the now defunct TLC Snip does initial appointment spaying and neutering. I took Tiger to a very kind older vet outside of town. Iā€™m so done with the big box vet clinics that have been commercialized into doggie Mayo clinics.

She was wonderful. Tiger was the very best boy. He weighs 50 pounds ! I guessed 35-40 because he was so lean. He is heart worm NEGATIVE. Woot Woot! He got vaccinated and is scheduled to be neutered at the end of January.

He has no chip (no surprise there). I was able to cut all his nails prior to the visit. Vet says he is young. Probably less than 9 months.

As for the left front leg limp.
She palpated him everywhere. And saw the deviation and the different musculature and atrophy and said that itā€™s definitely his elbow. And itā€™s old. Likely someone grabbed him by a front leg and dislocated his elbow.. Then it healed on its own. Maybe he got hit by a car and that leg was wrenched up into the wheel well but her best bet was the dislocation was the previous. Makes me think of his go to move when he had just a flat collar. (Before I bought the harness suggested here). He shoots backwards and I wonder if someone grabbed his leg? And wrenched it.

And Tiger will always limp slightly. A functional lameness. She said that it caused him no pain and that she would image (X-ray) it at the neuter appointment as when heā€™s sedated she could get much better views.

Anyway ā€¦ Iā€™m starting to seriously ADORE this dog. He was so good. With all the people and animals in the waiting room. With the staff. With the vet.

Iā€™m not sure why someone threw him away but with proper training and attention heā€™s going to be amazing ! Thank you EVERYONE for all your advice, thoughts, and encouragement.

Passing the vet check with such a super report, especially on his temperament, is the best news.
No telling what he is, but upside down he looks like so many boxers I have know, similar goofy way of moving. The roo-roo sounds like a hound, as others have noted.
There may be some of that in him and his name fits him so well.

He seems to have found dog paradise with you and you a wonderful friend to care for.

Fantastic News.

Donā€™t you wonder about how someone. would just give up on him?
Similar to my sweet, fun, smart
rescue -. 100 percent GSD. why
was she dumped and allowed
to roam and had a litter of pups
and then dumped.
We are just lucky, I guess.

My HEART is singing gleefully on this update for Tiger.

He just needed a kind hand, a warm bed, and a pack to teach him the ropes.

Yes! Heā€™s so docile. I always worry about pulling over to gather up dumped dogs. Is there a reason ? Will they bite? Is their temperament bad? Especially around here with lots of bully mixes and fighting and bait dogs. Iā€™m so glad I stopped.

Thank you !!!

Craziest aside. When we first arrived a lady came out of the tiny hallway into the small waiting room with a GIANT dog. He was GORGEOUS. Calm, noble, friendly. Tiger loved him. I asked her what breed he was and it was an Anatolian Shepherd. This dog was IMPRESSIVE. We chatted for a bit and she boards a horse at a farm I boarded at years ago out in the sticks. The dog trail rides with her off leash for miles and miles. She said generally the breed is more one owner type but her dog was a gregarious house dog. He was from a breeder in Arkansas.
And hereā€™s the best part ā€¦
I asked his name. His name was Mick Jagger. lol.
So I had a VERY amazing day. Tiger was a good boy and I crossed paths with Mick Jagger!!

Iā€™ve had seven dogs that were either dumped at a shelter or were picked up as strays by animal control. The other dog I currently have was dropped off on the road by my house 13 years ago after removing his collar. All of them have been the best boys and girls.

And the saddest part is that four of them are/were seniors when they were abandoned. And none were spayed or neutered. :confounded:

Okay COTH friends need some advice. This afternoon I dropped Tiger back off at my friends house. We gave him a warm soapy bath in the tub and I decided to crawl into the giant crate and replace all the thick blankets for fresh ones. And I smell urine at the back of the crate blankets. Slightly damp. Heā€™s been here for 2 1/2 weeks. Never an odor. Could it just be marking because the crate is so large and he is not neutered ?

Removed all the blankets to launder and replaced with fresh ones. Tiger really only has to be crated unsupervised from 7 am until 1 pm when I can let him out. He is walked in the morning for 30 minutes and always poops and pees. He is also let free into the small backyard free before the walk for 20 minutes.

He is again crated at night after a long afternoon of running around my barnyard. And then a long walk at bedtime.

On the weekends he out free to romp at my barn from morning until night.

I have a feeling this dog was never potty trained and lived in an outdoor kennel never taught that you hold it.

He has never pooped in his crate.
Do you think this is marking?

So my question is do you think the crate is too big?
Itā€™s the largest size. Made for a Great Dane. He is 50 lbs and medium sized in height. Or could he just have been marking his new home ? And it will cease once he loses his testicles ?
I would think that if he peed with abandon for 2 1/2 weeks the crate would have been sopping wet and rank. The blankets only smelled when I sniffed them. Help ! Iā€™ve never had a dog who would pee in its crate. But I have no idea what this dogs life in the first 9 months looked like.

Just for referenceā€¦ sorry for the blurry photo as you can see the crate is huge.

I know thatā€™s a lot of toys but he adores them. And doesnā€™t tear them up or pee on them.
