Dutch rider Adelinde Cornelissen eliminated in dressage: Horse's mouth bleeding.

Thanks! That’s the one.

I’m with you.

I’m probably reading too much into it, but upon watching the video I was really surprised by her reaction. She hardly glanced down at his mouth a couple times and then left the arena.

If it were me, and I was told my horse was bleeding from the mouth, I’d immediately dismount, unbuckle the noseband, and try to assess the damage.

I just think her reaction was inappropriately nonchalant…almost like she wasn’t all that surprised.[/QUOTE]

meh, he wasn’t lame. She checked then walked out. In front of that many people, if I didn’t see blood shooting out of my horses mouth, I’d assess the damage out of the public eye too. It’s not like he was dying or even distressed.

Heresy! Burn the witches!!

But how do you know she’s a witch?

Come over for coffee. I think I’m putting cognac in mine.

She did say she never joined a coven.

Because they say so!! And in a witch hunt like this, that’s all you need. Let her prove that she’s not. If she can’t do that, then to the flames with her!

Couple of comments. The difference between what you see with SP and the earlier photos of Adelinde is really the difference between deep riding that a lot of the top riders do (like it or not) and true RK. There’s a good 6-8 inches of clearance between Ravel’s head and his chest.
To me the question is really, “Does the horse look trapped”. Parzival looks trapped.

If you have such disdain for the conversation, then why do you keep participating?

Regarding the bloody mouth and the more recent announcements. It is entirely possible that it was just bad luck. However, here we have a rider who is DOCUMENTED using harsh methods on the mouth within 24 hours of the competition. If she wants to avoid the appearance of being eliminated due to abusive training techniques, perhaps she should avoid using abusive training techniques.

I had a horse that was a lip/tongue biter in the show ring. Never did it at home, but he would tweak himself out at shows and at least twice a year would chomp himself good - think of a person putting their tongue between their teeth and biting down. As he got used to showing and got over his nerves (and he was the nervous sort), it happened far less frequently, and didn’t happen at all the last year I had him. Either way, it resulted in instant elimination, and for good reason. As much as it stunk for us, that’s the way of it, and the way it should be.

I agree with the elimination… I don’t know why or how it happened, but blood is blood. If the FEI amends that rule they will have opened something of a Pandora’s Box, methinks.

and avoid consorting with demons!

Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live!!

Hmmm … didn’t see the stewards jumping all over your supposed harshness, did you?

She turned me into a newt!

(I got better).

Guess not, and it’s just symptomatic of the sickness pervading upper level dressage. Sad.

Burn the stewards too? Or maybe stone them? Next the judges!

The Grand Inquisition proceeds.

The WEG website seems to have disappeared.

What is the exact wording that they came out with in April? At least I think it was April.

That’s the thing…if you can’t see it, but someone else obviously can (and you’ve just been eliminated for it), wouldn’t you jump off to try and ascertain what’s going on?

Honestly, I’ve probably been more concerned about a loose flash than she seemed about blood coming out of her horse’s mouth.
