Was very happy to read this this morning when I picked up my TDN. He is horrible for horse racing. I hope Steve Assmussen is the next one to go!

I can’t stand the guy buuuut, whatever he’s using is flying under the radar and it kind of sets a poor precendet to be able to throw someone out without concrete evidence. That being said, it’s clear to anyone with a brain in their head this dude’s doing something nefarious.
i would hardly say hes been flying under the radar. i think its ridiculous that its took so long.

Sorry, I was referring to Pena, not Dutrow; I guess that wasn’t clear. I’m not terribly familiar with Dutrow other than what’s been posted here.
California is upholding the ruling, as well.

As expected: DRF Oct 17, 2011: “Dutrow granted 30-day stay of license revocation”
At the conclusion of a 30-minute hearing, Judge Richard Giardino issued the 30-day stay saying he didn’t feel "it would undermine the integrity of the system to allow the stay.’’ Had the judge denied the stay, Dutrow would have been banned from the grounds Tuesday.
Under state law, Dutrow’s attorneys would have had up to 120 days to file the appeal, but Michael Koenig, Dutrow’s attorney, volunteered to expedite the procedure and sought only 30.
"I’m glad I still get to go to the barn,’’ Dutrow said. "I got a very positive attitude here, no negativism at all. It’s easy for me to get up in the morning and go to the barn. Everything else comes so naturally for me there.’’
I wonder if some of his deep pockets owners, who keep putting horses with him, are funding his legal team? Seems to be alot of money behind keeping him in business despite a record of infractions that would run most others right off the track.

Same here. When I followed racing more, I always had a bad feeling about the dude (his mouth certainly didn’t help my opinion, either).

Dutrow had earlier received a 30-day stay of the ban after his attorney informed the court that he intended to appeal the board’s decision. The 30-day stay was set to expire on Wednesday.
The stay will allow Dutrow to train while his appeal remains unresolved. In similar cases, appeals have taken at least six months to be resolved, and they usually stretch beyond 12 months.

What some trainers do in his situation is set up a private training center, hire a “dummy trainer” to appear at the track and saddle horses…and continue to do their dasterdly things!!! Sad thought isn’t it???
Yup - I Love NY…court systems, that is…have problems with Hatfield/McCoy types trespassing right now during hunting season (as they’ve done for 10 years), and you have to practically catch them pouring a foundation to get additional charges to stick.
Bland diet for today to give my stomach a chance to right itself…

Nov 22nd “Dutrow on a roll with 10-year ban on hold”
While he is on par to have his worst statistical season in almost a decade, Dutrow has enjoyed a stellar November, winning 16 races from 31 starters through Sunday. The bulk of his success has come at Aqueduct – his home track – where he has gone 13 for 25 during the first 13 days of the fall meet, which ends Sunday with the final day of racing over the main track.
The streak coincides with Dutrow’s winning an indefinite stay of a 10-year suspension handed him by the New York State Racing and Wagering Board. The board, citing a history of rules violations, deemed his participation in the sport “inconsistent with the best interests of racing.” It is unclear when Dutrow’s appeal of the state’s penalty will be heard.
Dutrow has won 93 races and his horses have earned $3.4 million. The last time Dutrow won less than 100 races in a year was 2000, when he won 64. The last time his stable earned less than $4 million was 2001.
Last weekend, Dutrow went 5 for 5 at Aqueduct including Redeemed’s victory in the Grade 3 Discovery and Groomedforvictory’s score in the Adirondack Holme Stakes for New York-breds. The Discovery was just Dutrow’s second graded stakes win of 2011, the first since Flashpoint – a horse he lost to another trainer – won the Hutcheson at Gulfstream in February.
Since news came out about the indefinite stay of his suspension, Dutrow said he has received calls from owners wanting to send him horses.
“There have been people calling since then and there are people more willing to play along with us since I got an indefinite stay,” Dutrow said. "My owners that we have are more involved now that they have confidence I’ll be with them for quite a while. It’s so much better now for us.
“We got some nice horses,” Dutrow added. “We’re not dead.”
Yep - there are always owners willing to ship horses to a hot trainer.
