Ear covers in dressage competition?

Nope. A ‘bucking strap’ can be attached at the little side rings of saddle! For sure you are not supposed to hold to it when riding!
But actually, I’ve seen lots of people having it…

Not to confuse with a western bucking strap that makes horses buck in rodeo!

Oh dear. Doesn’t that mean anytime/anywhere for any reason on the showgrounds while horse is still in competition? You see photos of horses with wraps on for victory gallops etc/whatever. [/QUOTE]

Re the wraps, at regional championships (and i presume others) where there are victory gallops white wraps are required, and I do know of someone who was not allowed to participate because they did not have white wraps…

RE: ear nets- keep reading farther down the same rule. Subsection 8 lists the exceptions permitted (with no special permission required) in warm-up and ear covers are on that list.

Re: white wraps- thats why every vendor at the bigger shows has a few sets of white polos tucked somewhere- regardless of what they sell.

That’s good to know that LAEC allows them as I wasn’t going to show there at all this coming year since it’s too gnatty.

Unfortunately the person I know of just marched in the ring in some other color - too late for a quick shopping event!

ear covers

INoMrEd, I think I understand what you are saying…that you agree LAEC is gnat heaven and that this can be a drawback when deciding where to show.

But I do want to be clear for all readers that the facility does not have any role in giving permission to use ear covers. The judge decides whether this is permissible for a particular day of an event. So it is not a given that if you show at LAEC you will be allowed to use ear covers. Be proactive and ask the judge through show management early in the morning.
