I am at the barn at all kinds of crazy hours. Sometimes I ride at 4 or 5 AM. For me, anywhere that restricted hours or days would be a no go as a place to board
And not so long ago everybody thought saddles were one size fits all horses, and we’d never heard of Kissing Spines, ECVM, or ulcers.
I worked as a equine program coordinator at summer camp many moons ago. Our string was 14 horses that only worked at the camp in the summer. The rest of the year they were out in a pasture somewhere. They knew the camp drill though! They got turned out as soon as the last activity finished or the afternoon and had finished their dinners. We had a line of tie stalls and they would be waiting at the gate every morning, and they kind of picked their own stalls which was super cool. They were pretty consistent about them the whole summer too. Every now and then a couple would swap, but they were still close to “normal”.
To be honest years ago it seemed that in saddles they did fit a wide variety of horses.
I used my old Stubben on so many different horses and they went fantastically in it. Now you can hardly find 1 saddle that fits right?
I agree the ability to diagnose conditions that plague our horses has come a long way. We need to dial back on the feeding advice of having hay in front of them 24/7 as a cure all for ulcers. That management advice isn’t safe for all horses.
I’m curious whatever happened with the OP and their situation?
I know These threads take on a life of their own and sometimes we never know how a situation turned out.
One of my regrets in life is not knowing how the crazy crayola trainer situation turned out.
I totally agree! We want to know. Enough time has passed to reveal the ending.
