Electric on board fence

Looking into the 17 gauge wire for running on board fencing, after having issues with deer pulling down electric twine :frowning: . The Red Brand referenced above is galvanized, not aluminum. Which would be better–aluminum or galvanized steel? I want something that will break easily (be unlikely to injure a horse), be easy to repair (splice), and get as hot as possible (aluminum > steel?).

Also, looks as though the break strength on the galvanized is 170 lbs vs. 90 for the aluminum. Presumably aluminum would be better because lower break strength? Or is 170 still so easily breakable that a horse is unlikely to get hung up or otherwise injured from it?

Finally, I’m in a high-rain area. Aluminum would better withstand heavy rain vs. galvanized steel that might be more likely to rust / turn brittle eventually?

Thanks

In your case I’d go with aluminum. Either will be plenty hot.
