This makes me think somebody got a purebred GSD and there was an oops litter with a local mutt or they did it on purpose for 2 generations.
Likely a little ways back there was an oops.
Where she is from, she would have been a free-roaming dog, likely her mom was a free-roaming stray. The area will typically have âcommunity dogsâ (claimed and cared for by the community, rather than a single family) however the rescue who brought her in will NOT remove community dogs without explicit permission from the community (and not just one member of the community, they go door to door to canvas and if anyone objects they wonât take the dog). The community needs to nominate and agree to have the dog removed IF itâs a community dog.
On the other hand, strays are either killed via annual (or as needed) culls or are nominated to be removed by the community⊠the dog doesnât belong to the community, but also the dog hasnât been caught in a cull and thereâs no cull planned.
The organization that brought her in focuses on the health of community dogs first and foremost. They do spay and neuter clinics, then return the dogs, and they do regular vaccination and health clinics. That is their primary mandate. But if dogs are surrendered to the organization, they take them in, spay/neuter/vaccinate/health check, then place them with rescues.
Sounds like the dog version of TNR thatâs done for feral cats in many areas.
My guess would have been at least 75% GDS and of course 100% good girl!
Sheâs super cute and I love her ears. She reminds me of my fruit bat lab/aussie cross Lilly.
My dog is 50% GSD, from an âoopsâwhere the parents were known. The other 50% was a bernedoodle.
Every single relative listed on her Embark is purebred GSD.
Makes me wonder if Embark just has really good GSD data access or thereâs just so many GSDs out there or what.
When I first looked all I saw on the first line was âgrizzlyâ and I thought, what! part grizzly bear?!!!
I am looking at this post on my phone and I scrolled down and the first thing I saw was those Ears! So cute !
I wonder about their relative stuff too. I actually think they are looking at comparable % of breeds, not % shared DNA at the individual level.
It came back weird for my mixy mix guy, thatâs for sure.
