Simply amazing. Like something o/o “Man From Snowy River!”

Wow!
It’s interesting how far forward they lean when going down those steep slopes.

They make it look so easy. Amazing.

I said the same thing about making it look easy! Those guys hardly came loose at all-pretty impressive!

I watch with mixed emotions. Very athletic and impressive, but also dangerous…humans are crazy—no lead mare ever would bring her herd into such danger! For what?

Lead mares don’t head the battle field. The horses and riders were amazing. If they had any stops or run outs I didn’t see it in the video.

Lead mare?

These horses were a tool for war. I had to remind my young daughter of that when we were watching that last night-the men were soldiers and the horses were vehicles. The riding was impressive.

I repeat: Humans are crazy. War: what is it good for?!

You could ask that question of G. Washington or A. Lincoln.

Touche’.

I am glad we don’t use horses in wartime anymore; at least very seldom. I saw a documentry of the horses used in the Civil War and it was simply horrid. But horses, like any other domestic animal, has been a “servant” of Man since their beginning. In fact, that is why domestic animals were developed; to serve us. Good or bad, that is a fact. Modern civilization has been built on the back of the horse.

But that wasn’t what I was seeing in the video. Instead, I was just SO impressed to see that level of horsemanship in such a large group. It showed what a horse & rider team can do. What struck home to me is that here was a whole group of horsres/riders at this level and I could scoop up an equal number of horses/riders today…even so-called pros…and not be able to duplicate this.

Seriously, what these guys were showing is the definition of an “independent” seat.

I do agree about the horsemanship, partnership, amazing abilities.

Just am sickened by the old uses we have for animals—and young men (and now even young women) too, and the assumption that war is how we should do things…
I own a Cheval Canadien, a rare breed–used extensively in the Civil War. They are amazing horses–strong, versatile, unflappable–I am sad to think of how most of them met their ends.
Yes, ending slavery was necessary!
But no more of this war stuff, please, for man nor beast!!!

Wow…and I’m worried about doing a relaxed 40 with my arab… o_O
