I do this all the time, the neighbors compliment my horse, I compliment their dogs, it’s fun! Luckily most of the roads are quiet or have larger shoulder space. My favorite story is when I walked my horse through a very fancy neighborhood. It has a dirt walking trail, and a small park. I heard the kids exclaiming about the horse, and the (presumed) parent said “people in this neighborhood are so rich they walk horses.” Ha! No, I’d argue that people in this neighborhood wasted beautiful property on giant mansions when it could have been awesome small farms!

Frankly, I’d rather be ON a horse than have it in hand because I feel safer as long as I can keep my seat, it is easier to control both sides of the horse with two reins and two legs to control their bodies. But this is a good option for the unrideable.[/QUOTE]
My horse is easier to manage on a lead than under saddle. Depends on the horse.
