The Equine Interstate Movement Passport is basically a fresh Coggins and a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection good for 6 months.
The Equine Interstate Event Permit (Equine Passport) allows horse owners to obtain a permit equivalent to a health certificate, but valid for six months. Horses may travel in, to and through the following states with a current Equine Interstate Event Permit and Coggins Test Form: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
My state (Arkansas) doesn’t do this very often as evidenced by the confusion I encountered at the state livestock and poultry board. The form they are giving me doesn’t have half the current participating states listed. My concern is getting stuck at an inspection station, and I am looking at you Florida, and having them say, nope, no way.
Otherwise, I can’t think of any other state that requires a stop and inspection. I do recall being hassled nearly to death by a bored brand inspector in Arizona but that was in the 1970s.
So anyone have experiences to relate?
