Where do you look for equine themed novels? Just in case I write a few I wondered where you’d look to find them. Kindle? ITunes?[/QUOTE]

I just downloaded a bunch of these suggestion! Thanks everyone. Looks like another sleepless night ahead of me. I’m such a book nerd!
I absolutely LOVED Falling for Eli. Such a great read.
Seabiscuit is one of my all time favorites! Brilliantly written and researched. It is a great story of a horse but also an interesting time in American history. Laura Hillenbrand has written for Sports Illustrated and Equus. She also wrote Unbroken, which I enjoyed as well but it isn’t horsey.
I would have loved to have known Seabiscuit. He seemed like quite a character. She captures his sense of humor.
Walter Farley’s Man O’ War was one of my favorites as a child. I’m not a huge racing fan but I did enjoy both of these books.
I really wish you would just write a few more, please!
All The Pretty Horses, by Cormac McCarthy, is horse integral. But, it is not a merry or cheerful book. It’s the first in The Border trilogy, and is followed by The Crossing (which is wolf themed, as well) and Cities of The Plains.
goodreads.com is amazing for helping me find books I want to read. On my “shelves” I have these.
Reading:
Hearts over Fences by Toni Leland
Have read and enjoyed:
Chosen by a Horse by Susan Richards
Murder, She Rode by Holly Menino
Ride A Dark Horse by Laura Moore
Horseplay by Judy Reene Singer
Kit Ehrman’s series (Cold Burn, Triple Cross, At Risk, Dead Man’s Touch)
Georgina Bloomberg’s A Circuit Series (Rein It In, Off Course, My Favorite Mistake, & The A Circuit)
Riding Lessons & sequel Flying Changes by Sara Gruen
On my “to read” list:
Silent Harmony: A Vivienne Taylor Horse Lover’s Mystery

A Year at the Races: Reflections on Horses, Humans, Love, Money, and Luck (2004)
*Anything by Dick Francis!
Saving Baby: How One Woman’s Love for a Racehorse Led to Her Redemption
by Jo Anne Normile was just highly recommended to me by a friend. I haven’t read it yet myself, but it looks interesting.
Half Broken Horses, by Jeanette Walls
Boleto, by Alyson Hagy
Not about real horses, but a darned good read:
The Scorpio Races, by Maggie Stiefvater
And plot-wise, not about horses, but it opens with an escaped Brooklyn milk horse who learns how to fly after befriending a cat burglary who is running from a gang in lower Manhattan at the turn of the 20th century: Winter’s Tale, by Mark Helprin, who writes like an angel and actually seems to know how horses think besides. After 30 years, it’s still one of my very favorite books.
