Could be that the person was confusing detectable levels of the drug with therapeutic levels.

That sounds very reasonable, confusing regular use with what levels are permissible in drug tests when racing or showing.
New member/poster here. I was glad to find this thread because I was wondering the same thing about the recommended 14 days. Just got a script today from my vet for the Equioxx tablets and he told me I could keep my gelding on them indefinitely. So I was relieved to see that some of you have been treating your horses for years.
My question, has anyone used the new Equioxx tablets? They are waaaaay more affordable than the paste was, and the correct dosage. I’m looking forward to seeing if they help my boy.

We have an arthritic founder prone mini that has been on previcox and now equioxx for the last 5 years with no issues other than feeling great. Those of you that are saying the equioxx is more expensive than the previcox are getting taken by your vet. They cost about a dollar less per bottle than previcox.
Yes- the pills are way easier and I’ve been using them since they came out last year. We used the paste on an elderly mare- she had been on previcox with little difference. We didn’t want her on bute so tried the equioxx paste and it kept her going for about two years!
My mare had been on the previcox dog pills (1/4) and then the vet started stocking Equioxx pills (1/2) and they are the same cost as Previcox. I’ve seen the same results. No problems with long term use.
