Victor back in the saddle at Santa Anita

Worked St. Joe Bay this morning for John Sadler.

Sounds like many were glad to see him back. Sounds like from his agent that he won’t get back on a horse again until next weekend as he’s still doing PT down near Del Mar. He’s been cleared to walk and jog. Sadler purposely picked St. Joe Bay as a nice easy ride who doesn’t pull too hard or is nutty for Victor’s first ride back after Bobby Abu Dhabi’s fatal incident in late July.

Good news!

Now he’s going to get another opinion before riding again.

Take your time, Victor. This was a very bad injury.

It sounded like the third opinion on returning to riding was based on the first two opinions being a bit “diverse”.

I think this is a very smart move. I’m sure he’d like to be back riding but not at the expense of his overall, longterm health.

Regarding workmen compensation, I thought there was an exception carved out in many state workmen compensation laws for gross negligence–which of course is a much higher standard to prove.

Espinoza is slated to return to race riding February 18 aboard the filly Gallantlystreaming in the first race at Santa Anita.

Victor has been trying to ride during the mornings but it sounds like all the rain SA has been experiencing has hampered that effort.
