Eventing boots for ponies

After purchasing Dalmar event boots last year, I was very disappointed to see that they would rub my horses back tendon and cannon bone. After I would ride in them, they would twist on my horses legs. I was very disappointed in the product, and returned them. Now, I am looking for event boots for my 13.3 hand pony. I was about to purchase the Premier event boots, until I read a review that the boot twists on the horses legs. Has anyone had this experience with the Premier boots, and does anyone have any other suggestions for boots? Thanks!

The boots we sell the most for ponies are the Woof Pro Event boots in a small. . They work for most ponies, not all. . Eskadron also makes pony sized items that may work for you.

Given the UK probably has more ponies eventing, how about taking a look at the large range of boots in Robinsons catalog http://www.robinsonsequestrian.com/ and maybe email them for advice?

I tried the Woof Pro for my 14.3H mare. I think I ordered the mediums, based on the size chart. They were too tall for her leg, but the size around the leg was fine. I returned them. Both the 14.3 and 12H ponies are wearing the Woof Brushing boots for now. There was a big difference in height between the two types of Woof boots.

I have the Premiers and they’ve worked well on a 14hh Arab. He has the smalls, and I haven’t noticed any twisting. He’s got a decent amount of bone for his size, but nothing crazy.

I’ve also used the N.E.W. boots in size small.

Second the Ecogold XC boots! Love them!

I don’t know which boots to recommend, but I would say do not try the Nunn Finer American style boots. They only have one size AFAIK and they are quite tall. That being said, I love those boots for my horse!

I use the NEW boots on my 13.2 driving pony for marathon, small Woof boots behind. They work well, hold up over the 15 or so kilometers we travel on marathon day and protect well during quick turns in obstacles.

I always just used Woof all-purpose boots up front and behind on my TBx large pony. He wore smalls up front and mediums behind.

I second NEW boots!

Boogaloos!! I still have my pony set and I also have a set for my horses. Love them!

I have a set of NEW boots and a set of Premiers.

The Premiers can work, but I have to be careful to baby powder the insides to keep from rubbing and they are perhaps a bit too tall.

The NEW boots work wonderfully. I have the “airflow” model and they have held up well for about three years now.

I can’t speak to pony boots, but I have been using the premier boots for about 3 years and have been very happy with them! I’ve used the same front set on my 16hh tb and 17hh tb/oldenburg and they fit both of them well, no rubs or sliding at all! I’ve also used the hinds on the bigger horse, and they work great for her. They would fit the TB well too (that’s who I bought them for), but she’s not eventing right now so I haven’t had opportunity.

The boots clean up well and I’m pretty happy with the durability, especially for the price!
