Eventing jog photos?

vineyridge - there are a few culled from Twitter on the EN blog post linked above, but not too many. Still waiting for a more comprehensive gallery!

It took a while to get up, since Kat Natzler and Sara Lieser were out on the official course XC course walk with Sue Benson, but here’s a gallery from the Chronicle…

The jog…

Also, the cross-country course, with info about the jumps!

Kat and Sara are on the ground in London, and will be posting all the news and lots of great photos. Make sure to keep checking in at http://www.chronofhorse.com/2012-Olympics

I think someone needs to inform who ever picks the outfits what “jogs” means for us. They took that a bit literally for some teams.

jog flowers!
I was looking at the photo of Mark Todd jogging. The flowers caught my eye. I am a sucker for blue flowers. They didn’t look quite like Hydrangeas, but they sorta kinda looked like Hydrangeas. Does any one there know? It was such an intense blue.
yes, GB team outfits :eek: … designed by stella mcartney daughter of paul the beatle mcartney.:eek::lol:

the flowers are hydrangeas we have those and they can be a really intense blue, white and pink also available.

We interrupt this thread for a tangent. According to Mom the gardener back when she had her memory, the precise shade and “vividness” of a hydrangea is determined by the soil that it is in, and specifically blues and pinks respond oppositely to acidity, she said. I forget which end of the spectrum is great for blues and which pink, though. If you want to really blue up your hydrangeas, might try going for more (or less) pH in their turf.

My favorite outfit is Nina’s! Wow! So pretty and classy. 2nd favorite is the Canadian women and then the Belgium team. All very classy.

I did not even recognize Karen for a second.

Just glad everyone passed and I will be up very early to watch Boyd’s dressage!

Ditto. She looked very classy.

Double ditto. The Thai jog costume was by far the nicest–to my eye. But many of the men are just plain handsome and the other countries’ jog outfits were very classy. I do wish the Chronicle had a photo of the droolworthy Nicholas Touzaint and Hildago d’Ile.

In what universe has a rider ever had legs that are worthy of being seen in public?

Lifelong riders’ legs have NEVER seen the sun. I wonder if anyone them considered a spray on tan. I know I would if the alternative was being photographed with lilly white legs.

And those shoes! bleech.

According to press releases, Karen O’C is the oldest US Olympian this year. 54 does not seem that old…:frowning:

I bet that Ian Millar is the oldest Olympian at the whole games, unless there is a sailor who just sits behind the helm (and owns a fleet of boats. )

There is a 71 year old Japanese dressage rider. Who knows the sailors’ ages or the shooters?

How old is Carl Bouckaert? Just checked and he’s 58. Older than KOC. Toddy is 56–older than KOC.

I agree. Both Nina and Leon look lovely. Canada, France, New Zealand and Australia all did well in the attire category also.

The US was doomed with those horrid outfits, as was Great Britain.

The first jog is typically the more formal jog, with the second jog being slightly more casual. I wonder if they’ll be in pajamas for that one?

The Olympic KOC certainly doesn’t resemble the KOC who jogged at Rolex this year. Do you suppose the costumers took “jog” seriously? Maybe if we called it “First Inspection” the riders would get decent clothes.

KOC as “Ursalla, the unkempt Sea Hag”

Seriously, she could smile, put on some lipstick, pull her hair back and ditch the butch avaitor shades…but nooooo. She had to look like that representing the USA.

Nina’s outfit looked pretty classy… I’m sorry, but for everyone else I could only cackle at how unflattering and dreadful the final effect was.

Is Jessica Phoenix really tall, or is her horse really short?

As a non-eventer who is trying to learn enough to follow eventing with some form of intelligence  I was wondering the same as my impression had always been that pairs present to the job in formal attire. This makes a lot of sense.

Nina Ligon looks like she dressed herself, and I mean that as a compliment. Beautifully put together.

My favorite, though, are those wonderful quarter marks!

Most everyone looks pretty wretched in these photos. LOL. Nina being the exception. Was it really sunny or something? Everyone is scowling?! A lot of the photos are oddly timed.

I also thought jog outfits were supposed to be business casual, like attire for in-hand classes? Tiana Coudray has her best jewels on… and a frumpy tracksuit. LOL. Agree that the U.S. and G.B. look like maybe they actually thought they were going JOGGING today

Such beautiful horses!
