Eventing!

I caught up with both rounds of the show jumping after returning home from the Blue Jays game last night, and, wow, what an exciting day to wrap up eventing! I was so very, very happy that, not only did the Brits win team gold for the first time since 1972, but two of my favourite riders, Julia Krajewski of Germany and Andrew Hoy of Australia won individual medals. Incredible performances by Julia, Tom McEwen of Great Britain, and Andrew, had tears streaming down my face after Julia won and accepted her medal.:sob:

Do you have a link to the photo? I’d like to see. Thank you!

Im scouring the net for it and now of course I can’t find it. He shared it on his insta story yesterday from someone else posting it…now I can’t find it. I’ll keep looking.

This one ? Does not account for his back legs.

Yes! His back legs, even if they smashed it wouldn’t have caused a fall.

BUT the rail was still up three strides away, there are photos of that too. If the rail comes down three strides after jumping it, the rail wasn’t dropping to save a fall. There is supposed to be significant downward pressure to cause that.

I have a question aside from the current discussion about Chipmunk and the pin. How on Earth did Germany finish so low in the teams standings with two of their riders going into stadium in the top 10? Did they have a substitution or something?

No substitutions. The scores were that close.

Germany was in second place after dressage, but picked up over 30 penalties as a team on XC with not a single rider going double clear (SA had a stop). But MJ and JK had such good dressage scores and jumped clean in the first stadium, keeping them individually in the top 10 for the second stadium round.

Makes sense. thanks

According to this article, the yellow clips that activate under less force were a direct response to those horrible white gates at Burghley where the clips did not activate.

“Many of us watched the Land Rover Burghley CCI5*-L (England) with concern this past autumn. In particular, the offset white gates near the end of the course seemed to cause too many falls despite the fact that they were fitted with a MIM system. After reviewing the videos at this combination it was determined that when a frangible fence is impacted at angle the force needed to activate a device can be doubled. I’m thrilled to tell you that MIM has now come up with a new yellow clip that will react correctly in this and other situations that require less activation force.”

So, they apparently went too much in the opposite direction of them activating too often. The frangible technology is still a work in progress and will need continued refinement to get it right. But at least they’re trying.

It was the same for every competitor.

Yes, the jump should not be falling from a tap though. Big issue, which they should have recognized and either removed the fence or removed all the penalties IMO.

Dream on.

can you maybe add some context to your posts because they really make no sense in when trying understand your point?

Me, too. I loved how Julia gave all the credit to her lovely mare. And man, at 62, Andrew Hoy is my hero.

Hoy’s performance was just incredible fantastic teamwork from him and his lovely horse.
