Just kidding of course!

MEP, yes actually, that is normally the case but not this year. Rory grew significantly during the time that Odie was kept separate, and once they were reintroduced, either Rory is playing rougher or Odie is more careful, but Odie doesn’t let Rory get a hold of him anymore. They still play, but from opposite sides of panels and I’m building a permanent shelter for Odie that Rory can’t access.
reticulated leukotrichia- I say no way! I don’t know anything about that… but the pictures I see showing it the pattern is not a lightening of the pigment pattern… it’s an absence of pigment- the pattern is made of white hairs.
The Burrito doesn’t have white hairs at all.

OK so I’m glad I’m not the only one with a dissenting opinion…
OK, I took more photos. His skin is definitely NOT a different color under the lighter coat. However, I realized the hair is significantly shorter where it is lighter colored.
I think that he watched a Disney movie and wants to audition for their next movie…
Is he going under an electric fence / gate somewhere? We once had a barn cat with weird markings that turned out to be from sleeping too close to a heat lamp.
Nope. No electric he can get to on the property. He rolls a lot…?
have you asked your vet yet?
Could it simply be that Rory groomed a little hard there and since the hairs are noticeably shorter it makes them look a different color?
No, not asking my vet.
And no, Odie doesn’t let Rory get that close anymore.
