Interesting Larry, if I put it in a spray bottle and spray it on would it work for turnout? I’m thinking I could get bulk supply at a wholesale foods outlet. And my flies aren’t that bad since I’ve been using your predators for years.
It won’t hurt anything. I buy the cheap Mexican stuff in bulk.
Thanks for your support of natural fly control with Fly Predators.
I would prefer the mask under the bridle. They also have ones with ears, for those nasty gnats and deer flies on the trail.
Fringe is a great thing for helping horses deal with flys. We use a string fly sheet when driving
Also have used it over the saddle pad, but under the saddle when riding - you feel rather like a knight. The moving straps do a good job vs fly spray that seems to wear off, sweat off or otherwise not help. Also works on the bugs that don’t mind fly spray.
We need to add a chest piece though since it doesn’t cover that and need something for the neck as well. Still working on that. The neck stuff seems to roll to one side too much and become ineffective just when the biting flies start attacking behind the ears.
We have one horse that is particulary a problem with bugs. Not all his fault, he’s been attacked by bees a few times and since the last time anything flying near the head and buzzing results in somewhat of a panic attack. We haven’t been able to figure out how to train him not to panic yet and since he is somewhat justified, we just avoid situations where we KNOW its buggy until we figure out next steps.
Ideas would be welcome.
