Fairfax Saddles? Good, bad, indifferent?

We have several people with Fairfax saddles in our barn. Our fitter is an independent saddler but typically is selling Hastilow/Fairfax/K&M etc. I just bought a Fairfax jumping saddle and am happy with it. I do not love the super short billets, but that is my only complaint. I have to stand on a stool to girth my horse up. However, I really like the saddle and my horse is really hard to fit. One boarder got the Fairfax all purpose saddle and it has been perfect for her. Another has the dressage saddle and several years later, it looks fantastic. We have had great results with both Hastilow and Fairfax, but a lot of that has to do with our saddle fitter. For the price, especially, I am very happy. Several of us have older Hastilow dressage saddles and would certainly buy another one. We have everything from backyard riders to FEI competitors.

I had a Thorowgood T8 Compact General Purpose, and a Kent & Masters Dressage saddle. I thought both were very well-made, and my saddle fitter (an independent fitter) had good things to say about both saddles. I can’t speak to Fairfax specifically as I’ve never owned a Fairfax, but figured I’d share my positive experiences with the Thorowgood and Kent & Masters since they’re within the same family.
