Fall detection - Apple Watch. Any one has it?

You could also connect a small Bluetooth speaker and where it in a fanny pack.

Back in the caveman days before Bluetooth was invented you used to be able to buy wired dressage speakers that you could either put in a pocket on a special dressage pad, or wear them in a special fanny pack-like belt. You could hook them up to your Sony Walkman (CD or cassette) and have instant music while you rode your horse. I had those speakers! They were the cutting edge way to practice your freestyle way back then.

I love it! You can answer calls from your watch! So cool! Apparently, callers cannot tell that you are not a regular phone because when I tell them they are on my Apple Watch they are shocked by how clear I sound. The only thing I don’t like about that is that if anyone is around you, they can obviously hear your conversation. Regardless, it is sooooo convenient! You can also send and receive texts. For texting, there are either some “canned” basic responses, or you can scribble a response letter by letter. It’s very tiny and kind of cumbersome, but it’s still a neat feature. You might also be able to create custom text responses, but I am not 100% sure.

I think you just convinced me to get the one with cellular. I can’t tell you how many times I wish I could call someone when I am standing in the middle of the arena, alone, with a horse. I don’t carry my cell phone with me when I ride. I don’t want to smash the $$$$$ thing to pieces if I do fall.

Think about it, I wonder whether it can be rigged so my instructor can talk to my watch while giving me instruction. Ummm…

the idea for me is that I dont want to land on a phone or speaker in the unusual case that I come off .

Do it! Do it! DO IT! (I don’t want to encourage you or anything!) You won’t regret it! Speaking of getting smashed, I started with the aluminum case but quickly upgraded to the stainless case because it’s stronger and less likely to scratch. I also upgraded from the scratchy hay collecting Sports Loop to the stainless magnetic Milanese band. For further protection, you can also get tiny screen protectors and a clear rubber watch case protector.

And yeah, what’s the deal with no Series 4’s being available, yet Series 5 and Series 3 are? Did you ever find out why?

Yes, your instructor would just talk to you through the speakerphone on your watch. That’s how you answer calls on your watch if you don’t have Bluetooth headphones connected at the time.

Yes, just like on your phone. The canned text responses and write-to-text is a cool feature, though. I’ve used when I’m places where I couldn’t use talk-to-text because I had no privacy. Like, at the gym (Gym? Remember the days when we could go to the gym?) on the treadmill (using write-to-text) or while lifting weights (canned response).

I bought the watch with cellular capability but ended up disconnecting it. It is an additional $10.00 monthly but with taxes and fees it was closer to $20.00. I live in an area of weak cellular signal and I found the watch didn’t work as well as the phone under poor conditions. Also, I always have my phone on me anyway, so I found the cellular feature redundant.

Bumping this to see if you got one?
