Favorite Long Sleeve Sun-shirts? Help me shop!!

I know everyone seems to love Kastel but I’m not a fan. The fabric snags easily and just did not wear very well. I much prefer Ariat and Asmar for durability.

I like the Kastel shirts, just picked up a few from the Dover buy one/get one sale. They hold up fine to riding and tacking, in my experience, but probably wouldn’t fair so well for real barn work. I have some Eastern Mountain Sports brand sun shirts also, but they are not nearly as cool and not cut long enough to wear with anything other than high-ish rise breeches.

And then there’s always REI and sierra trading post. My sun shirt was from REI and it has been great.

Not an equestrian brand but very affordable, good quality clothing. This is one of my favorite brands ever–Uniqlo. I stumbled upon this shopping last week and it was too good of a deal to pass up! These were $19.90 when I bought one but it looks like they’re on sale for $14.90 currently and they do have a dark navy color available.

These shirts don’t have the mesh features of a typical equestrian sun shirt, but they do have UV protection and are very lightweight and stretchy. It doesn’t mention this on the website but on the tags for the one I bought, it said it was moisture-wicking as well.

How’s their sizing run? Usually a medium in the Ariat and Fits sun shirts I have. Love the price on these!

Ariat Sunstopper. They’re wonderful. I’ve used them in 95+ degrees and they’re so cooling and airy. They wash/hold up really well and are pretty affordable compared to other sun shirts. The only downside is they don’t have a ton of colors yet. They run large as well. I’m 5’2" and about 120 lbs, and I can only wear XS. I’m swimming in size S, and that’s my normal size in other brands.

I want to like Kastel so badly because a lot of people really like them, but I just don’t. The material feels cheap and clingy, and they aren’t nearly as cooling as my Ariat shirts. I got my Kastel shirt on sale, def. not worth full price IMO. It looks nice, but the material is a big disappointment considering the price tag.

I’d disagree, they run small and short since the sizing is derivative of their sizes used in the Asian markets. I wear a L in Kastel and a L or XL in Uniqlo.

I like EIS and bette/courte ones. Do consider a spray tan, if you’re worried about a colour go get a tan well beforehand to test the colour out. It’s really easy to get a spray tan lines that remain even after a sun shirt.

Columbia! I live near an outlet mall and you can pick up their special sun proof ones for cheap.

I just got some Noble Outfitter sun shirts and prefer them to the Kastel, Ariat and SmartPak versions.
