Favorite work pants?

Oh, funny. You don’t find the shirts HUGE? We size down everything for my husband. He’s nearly in smalls at ~190 and 6’2". Wears larges otherwise. I can usually wear men’s small shirts, but I swim in the men’s Duluth stuff.

Course, the women’s tops seem to run small :-/ And so much more flimsy than the men’s. I need a large to have enough length in the arms!

But the pants are stellar

Wow, really? DH is 6’2" and 200lb-ish, and while he only has a few Duluth tops - a couple t-shirts, and a jacket, the large in the Ts, and the LT in the jacket fit him perfectly. He has to get LT in long-sleeve anything because of really long arms.

Wow, really? How funny is that? Yeah, mine usually wears larges in t-shirty type stuff, and flannels and and sweatshirts. But the Duluth mediums are a little large on him. He does like a fairly trim fit.

I wear a lot of men’s small long sleeve t’s and henleys because the arms are usually longer than the women’s stuff, but I SWIM in the Duluth smalls. Wish they made a men’s XS because the quality is so much more sturdy than the women’s.

You have to remember that they intentionally cut them more generously because a big part of their market is folks in the trades where movement without restriction is a plus. Your hubby may need the “trim fit” on shirts where that’s offered if he’s that slim and tall. I’m 5’11, 205 and prefer an XL but can wear a L for some things if I’m ok with the snugger fit. I buy the regular fit, not the trim fit…I like the room. They don’t shrink, either, like nearly ever other make I’ve bought over the years.

None of the woman’s tops I’ve bought for the boss have ever run small, either. They were the same material weight as what I buy, too. Strange that your experience was different, but perhaps you were buying different models.

That’s a good point, Jim–we’ve not tried the slim fit for him. Slim is usually TOO slim–thinking of slim/tailored/classic type sizing, classic is usually too generous, slim is too skinny, tailored is just right (like goldilocks, geez) but slim at Duluth is very likely just what he needs. Went and ordered a handful of slim t shirts and one of the slim long sleeves for me, yay!

The sleeve length in the women’s stuff is usually what kills it for me. It’s a common problem in my stuff. Tall, long arms. But I haven’t found the fabric in the women’s ts to be the same as the fabric in the men’s ts. It’s much lighter. :-/

 I did indeed!

I am a slim calf tall boot person, so fingers crossed these work for me! Good looking out

Yea, Simkie, the Trim fit may be just the ticket for your better half if he’s svelt…

I am not a slim calf tall boot person, and I find the slim leg to fit like a straight leg on me which is not min preference but they they are work pants.

I got some of the sale colors but I will have to hem them because I don’t know who thinks that 31 is a reasonable standard inseam length but alas. I ordered a fleece lined pair for this winter, we shall see.

But there isn’t a single inseam length? They’re available in a 29" inseam if you need shorter.

Enjoy the lined pants! It’s been chilly enough, I started wearing mine a couple days ago.

Oh, another note for people interested in trying these: they show up on eBay fairly regularly. Particularly the shorter lengths.

The Flextra Tough are on sale but only come in a 31.

A 29 I would still need to cut 3" off of, and I’m not actually that short legged, even though I’m 5’1".

I’ve just been buying Amanda jeans at Kohl’s. They’re stretchy and comfortable and with a 30% off coupon can be had for less than $20.
