There is no tack locker. Just a space on the floor that a tote or storage truck can be put (whatever the person owns to store their saddle pads, brushes in etc). Nothing else is allowed.
Count me in as never having seen it. Maybe it does happen, but Iād hardly call it normal. Especially not $200 (yes I know numbers are relative to the whole cost and quality of offering, but thatās not a sizeable amount for a spot on the tack room floor). If Iāve paid for part-boarding, Iāve always paid the horse owner and thatās it. It would be a huge turn-off to pay extra unless there were some obvious perks.
That would be a definite ānoā from me then. If it is that little space Iād keep it in my car (which is just a rolling tack locker full of miscellaneous stuff already). Also doesnāt seem super secure; my barn doesnāt have a problem with stall items (sprays, odd brush or two, stud chains, halters, etc.) going missing but I wouldnāt just leave tack sitting in a bin.
Iāve only seen this (or a commission charged to the owner) when the BO/trainer also has horses for lease and feels that a boarder leasing out their horse is taking income away from BO/trainer.
well this discussion has lead me, if I were still running a boarding operation, to think I would talk with my insurance carrier to see IF my coverage extend beyond to cover a subleased horse. If a positive response ensued then I would request it writing.
I can foresee a problem since the boarder could easily be considered of now having their Own business which is the leasing of their horse that my busienss had no connection.
