Ah…see my issue was that it was so crumbly and dusty that the horses were coughing. What I did find was it is a LOT of hay when you take it and put it in a bucket with the water and let it sit a minute then dump some/most of the water out (although I guess you didn’t need to do that). It expanded greatly. One bale lasted me longer than a normal bale. I then just put the bucket in the stall…and my horse ate it out of the bucket. He loved it that way. But found it more labor intensive than just throwing them a few flakes of ‘normal’ alfalfa.
Sort of similar to alfalfa cubes when you soak them…
