FEI and Horse Welfare

I dont think this is just an upper level issue, its dressage as a whole. Just look at the young horse classes.

Oh, I’m not suggesting they’re great photos or great rides. I’m addressing one issue only: were the photos manipulated to suggest blue tongue where there was none?

And to be clear, the photos I posted did NOT come from Lars. I pulled them directly from Getty Images.

I saw all those. Regarding blue tongue, I don’t see it in these images. I definitely don’t see anything that looks like the images from the Swedish paper.

There is absolutely a blue tongue in the Getty image. It’s all BS.

The foam on the lips looks weird too. Im
no expert but the horses back is down in almost all those photos.

Then may I respectfully suggest a trip to your eye care provider or looking in a few horses mouths because they are most definitely not healthy pink in those pictures.
None so blind as those who will not see eh?
When the sport of dressage is dying on its @rse because of the absolutely righteous welfare uproar it really helps the cause when the blatantly obvious concerns are downplayed or ignored, or even worse the victim blaming gets trotted out.

Well not sure how credible this source is… Lars Le is a photographer who makes a living with taking pictures at those events… and I personally found some nasty comments on my personal Facebook page from him ( I never even commented on any of his posts, in fact I didn’t even see any) So obviously he is happy with everything in the moment and is supporting the top riders….

Is it necessary to be nasty? I already said I wasn’t defending them, just addressing the issue of whether the photos had been doctored.

Another person added to my block list.

Definitely. That’s why I went directly to Getty Images.

Let me know if you need a hand finding the block button :innocent:

So further to this, a group veterinarians have independently assessed a selection of pictures purchased through Getty and other photo agencies.
Their reports are discussed in this newspaper article.

The FEI - given chance to comment, have not responded.
The riders in question have either ignored a request to comment, declined to comment or have threatened legal action.
The picture I posted above of Nanna Skodborg Merrald that was published by the FEI themselves has been removed from their site.
Nothing to see here folks, nothing to see……just wall to wall horses in pain for your enjoyment.
