FEI hind boots rules

This is a very good thing designed to eliminate “pinch boots.” They affect horses very differently…some don’t seem to care at all and then sometimes there is a huge change, like Admara at the World Cup Finals last year: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=q3R4o2pNB0w&feature=youtu.be

the rule is somewhat over inclusive…I have the Thinline ankle boots PNWjumper linked and they certainly don’t pinch when applied correctly. But the turnback Velcro could possibly allow overtightening more easily, so I will happily use something else in the unlikely event I show at FEI level.

…or in young horse classes, which are not FEI classes.

Painful to watch

Frig so my Eskadrons are out for my first FEI this summer hopefully.

Funny because my equifits latch and don’t have double Velcro but they pinch like crazy and that’s why I went back to my Eskadrons. I don’t want or need that. Now I have to find an alternate I guess :frowning:

@Jealoushe I have single strap Eskadron ankle boots, so all is not lost!!! Actually have a couple pair. Haven’t ever noticing them pinching, and since they’re Eskadron, they come on a multitude of colours

Good Luck with your path to FEI and with the competition(s) itself.

Thank you! Good to know, mine are double lock, maybe I’ll just cut the outer one off lol

Yes you you are correct. I just wasn’t getting into the weeds on this because it just isn’t an issue for the OP…that rule doesn’t apply to regular HTs. Just FEI classes in eventing. Would need to look it up to see if it applies in the YEH classes as I don’t know which rules they follow.
