Fence post installation - Pounding vs Auger/Cement

Some of my perimeter is wood post-t-post-wood post. This is not field fence–it is coated wire and tape. I bought 7’ t-posts. If you line it up right, the t-posts are just holding up the high-tensile fencing–not part of the stretching action. The fence should slide through. It is 5’ tall and capped. Top line is hot. Wood is going to be safer from an impalement standpoint. T-post is easier to DIY and won’t rot.

My field fence (no climb) is all on wood posts. That is a very heavy fence. Mine are 11-12’ apart.

I have Wood posts on my perimeter fence other then along the back and part of a side that backs up to a fairly big ditch and cutover (logged woods). I have t posts for my cross fencing breaking up the pastures.

I use caps on my T posts, and have a million of them (old farm was an old gravel pit…good luck getting a hold drilled THERE!!!). I do prefer the looks of the wood posts, but T posts are SOOOO much easier and faster. And the insulators are cheaper for some reason.

I do have corner bracing and wood posts for each corner.
