Clarification ~ I advised lining the pet carrier for bringing spay Mama home /diaper
clarification … as per lining pet carrier with a hospital bed pad or diaper …
** this would ONLY be for Mama cat’s trip home from clinic after her surgery ````
often times because the adult females are scared to death  the vet will place the cat in a carrier not into the hospital boarding unit … the female remains in there til she is taken home * this avoids the techs being bitten when moving a feral ~
thus the female will not have a litter box … and will eventually pee … the diaper or hospital pad will grab the urine and hold it away from the female
** hospital pad should be under the towels …
i would not advise placing a ‘newly operated’ cat on hay …
hoping this makes the ‘diaper trick’ clearer …
** kittens being trappped for socialization and for that I would use a pet carrier YES ! lined with barn hay and with a litter pan … NOT clumping Litter as if they spill their water and step in clumping litter then they suffer from ‘cement’ feet !
** another instance when a hospital pad is needed ( under towel on the bottom of a pet carrier ) is when transporting a cat or dog home from clinic after “fluid therapy” ~ there will be a flood !:lol::winkgrin:
