Field boots vs dress boots

Field boots have the laces around the ankles. Dress boots do not.You can wear either in shows. However, if you were doing upper level dressage, dress boots would be more appropraite.I ride in field boots because I like the extra ankle support provided by the laces.

Well, now hang on a minute, I know for absolute certain that Ariat also makes dress boots…and quite nice looking ones at that…[/QUOTE]

But not for men, at least not as far I was able to determine when I was shopping. The only off-the-rack dress boots through I could find through U.S. suppliers were Mountain Horse and Equitector, but they weren’t tall enough, so I wound up going with Ariat’s field boots, which fit perfectly. They retail for entirely too much, but I found them new on eBay for a quarter of that. Fortunately, I don’t think any hunt I’m liable to cap with will ever give me any guff about the laces.
