The owners are planning to breed her now and possibly sell her in the fall.
Once more, the potential $$$$ in the ring overrides the possibility of time off and a return to the races. Article did say it is a minor injury.
I know; it’s easy for me to sit here and roll my eyes in disgust since it’s not my money invested here. Still…
Ring? or breeding shed?
I don’t understand the ‘disgust’. Nice filly. Soft tissue injury. Sure, they could give her extended time off to recover, hope the recovery is successful leaving Bast racing sound, hope she races again and returns to pre-injury form and doesn’t break down during training or during a race.
Or, retire her now. Not sure I’d be doing anything different than what is being done.
Covfefe retired… wonder if it was always in the plans to retire her or if something happened. It’s rather odd timing.
I agree about the timing. It’s too bad. I was looking forward to seeing her run again this year.
100% sound, says the trainer Cox.
Yes, I had read that. I wondered if she just decided she didn’t want to pay the game anymore.
I did read from some fans (so who knows how accurate ) that her owners always planned to retire her & breed her… but that makes me wonder why she wouldn’t have gone to the farm last year???
Who knows
Maybe they wanted to give her some down time before breeding? Anyway it will be nice to see her foals grow and, hopefully, run well.
she just had a published work on Feb 8th. So she wasn’t getting “downtime”
At Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots in New Orleans, LNJ Foxwoods’ champion Covfefe returned to the work tab with a three-furlong move in :38 3/5 for trainer Brad Cox.”
Ah, so for those who understand “work” times, was that a good work?
For a filly like her, it’s just a maintenance work.
(Plus, work times are always impacted by what the trainer has asked for.)
Really nice maiden run by Gamine. Have to keep an eye on her next start. See if she has it to step up into Oaks level competition.

Gamine, what can you say… the Acorn is a 1m race, she won by 18 3/4 lengths in 1:32.55 . The previous record set by You in 2020 was 1:34.05.
Gamine, IMO, didn’t just ‘set a new record’. She smoked 'em by a second and a half. I’m used to seeing new records set in a fifth or two fifths… but a second and a half.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Gamine take on the boys next. That was a very Rachel Alexandra like start yesterday
Some good Turf action coming up in the next few weeks.
