I wanted a Champion or Trauma Void to work for me so badly! I tried both peaked Champion models in different sizes from the VT study, the EQ3, and the Lynx, and none were quite right. I said looks be damned and still failed. I could see the Champion helmets being quite hot in the summer here though.
If you have the right head shape (idk what that is) to be able to be picky on looks, then more power to you.
I don’t know why they didn’t include Uvex in the VT study this time around. I ride in a non MIPS Uvex, and they’ve previously included some of their helmets.
I don’t have many local options for trying helmets, so it’s been primarily online for me, but I did drive about 90 min to try some Tipperary helmets a few weeks ago. Dover can be a bit slower on refunds, but I’ve had no real issues thus far. Shopping online gives me more access to more choices. Which apparently I need because my head isn’t made for most MIPS helmets
So if you exhaust your resources locally, I wouldn’t hesitate to go online. Fair Hill Saddlery offers virtual helmet fittings too.
