That dude is a pot-stirrer for sure, and I doubt her has any actual base for that claim. BUT I wish there was some truth to it because they really ought to at least cancel cross country.
AgreedâŠwonder why he thinks they are going to cancel everything?
Because if his team canât win, no one should win?
I understand clearly what people are saying about the organic divide in endurance philosophy and practice with the Middle East âŠ
But what is confusing is that those speaking for the Middle Eastern contingents seem to be arguing both sides, in various social media sites, sometimes against themselves, saying the race should not have been cancelled, etc.
But I do agree that the Ahmed videos, while revealing and welcome, definitely had his own rhetoric pushing for a Middle Eastern endurance WEG. No question about that. He kept getting the skeptical side-eye from people from other countries, captured on his own video.
So did anyone figure out the live feed? Links and times and events? Sorry not to be up to speed ⊠I surfed but canât find anything. Thank goodness for the German site live scores.
The Tryon website is disorganized and behind-date. Featuring livestreams âtomorrowâ from June and July. If there are links to WEG, they are so buried it isnât worth hunting for them. Is this a reflection of the entire Tryon management, or just a very inept web communications effort?
Why was so much of the endurance cantering on pavement? Poor track planning?
This is the very interesting Facebook post that has some discussion of the endurance at the end. It also includes pictures of some of the cross country course. Yikes!

FEItvâs live feed is really good today. The bumps from yesterday seem to be solved.
This was an interesting paragraph in H&Hâs report;
âThe decision was made to re-start the event 45min after the last rider had completed the first loop, with all horses having to pass a further new veterinary check â ruling out 25 of the original 126 starters. However, this poses another issue under the rules. Sheikh Mohammedâs son Crown Prince HH Hamdan al Maktoum is vying to claim gold again following victory in WEG 2014. His 2018 ride Castlebar Corsair was originally shown as vetted out after loop 1 on the Yamamah timing app, but once the ride was re-started Hamdan was shown as reinstated.â
Some amount of Tevis is on pavement, as they go through the towns. Thatâs all I know.
Well, one tiny town exactly, and itâs a very short stretch before you pick up the trail again. Plus, no one is that much in a hurry at that point in the ride that they need to canter through there.
I have no idea how much pavement there is on the Tryon course - does anyone know? - but as discussed earlier, you train for everything and then adjust your riding to the conditions. The pavement seems to be the smallest issue at this pointâŠ
HOLY CROW
Wished I hadnât seen that picture of Splitters Creek Bundy.:no:
that article is from 2015. Old news
Disgusting.
Wow. I hope those UAE a******** and anyone else complicit in cheating and cruelty/abuse are expelled from FEI. And that Sheikh Ahmed ought to be horsewhipped. Maybe they can do it during the closing ceremonies at WEG.
You guys- we hunted this morning, after an early morning cloudburst, using a portion of the trails used in Endurance. We galloped and jumped, came home with tendons intact and all the shoes we started with. The going is perfectly fine. Yes, in some places it was soft, but nothing deep and holding. In a couple of steep places, there was sand put down, with very little sign of washing.
We stayed out about three hours, finishing on the steep trail above the Green River. There is nothing unridable about the ground. It is, however, a wildlife wasteland-not even any deer! I will be very glad when all this craziness is over and done with and out of our woods.
Did you ride the entire trail? I saw photos of the trail washed away with cratersâŠwhich were definitely not safe. They were close to the venue.
I didnât see the pics but remember what most disciplines consider âunsafeâ footing is pretty normal for us. Iâve definitely done my share of close my eyes and pray we remain upright. I actually did a ride last year where they told us to make sure to stay toward the edge of bog holes because there was no way to tell how deep they were and there were things like sunken cars in them:eek::eek:- thing is it poured the night before and there was no edge
Ok interesting. These were craters made by rain run offâŠmoving in all directions and likely a foot deep. If thatâs normal than I guess that wasnât why they cancelled.
