Flea/tick season is around the corner

This is a big help, thank you!

We got our collar today, yay! Question for other users, does the plastic eventually relax/mold to their necks? Right now it’s super loose on the sides but kinda snug on the top and bottom. I don’t want to make it any looser because then I would be afraid that he might get a paw stuck if he itches his neck.

Also, to answer the swimming question: it says if your dog swims or gets a bath more than once a month then it reduces the effectiveness to 5 months. For once a month bathing and swimming it says to not remove the collar and that it won’t reduce the effectiveness.

Why can’t I do a regular imbedded link? Pets Megastore

After a lot of research and soul searching, I went to Trifecttis pills. Never had a problem with six Corgis treated monthly.

Dr Fosters had them on sale recently.

Frontline stopped working here in Deer Tick Central some years ago :(. Ticks don’t care one bit about it. Used Avantix II for a while, then that stopped working. I’ve been using Nexguard for the last couple of years. It seems to be working, as, while I do find ticks on the dog, they are always dead and pull right off, if they are still even attached at all. I keep her on it year round, as winter has been a total crap shoot lately. A 70 degree day in January!

I wish they had something approved for humans, as we pull a handful of ticks off of everyone every year, usually late fall. It gets annoying, inspecting everyone before we go to bed at night, but we live on a property with enough woods/brush, and enough deer, that just going out in the yard, we can pick up a tick.

Bravecta is next on my list, but my vet doesn’t carry it yet, so I haven’t tried it.

I used Bravecto on my Bouv puppy last year and had good results. I am going to use it again this year.

I have been beyond happy with Parastar Plus for the past 2 years. The few ticks I found that actually bit the dog are almost immediately killed. It seems to do a good job repelling ticks too. I asked my vet about the feed through and he was adamant that in our area Parastar Plus is the way to go. When I am taking the dog to a wooded area I also use a topics fly spray/tick repellent. In the summer we get awful GNATS and nothing but fly spray seems to do a thing for those. They’re gross. But the Parastar is doing an excellent job on the ticks.

Well so far so good with the collar. Haven’t really had a chance to test it yet, but it doesn’t seem to be bothering Wynston any.
